First interview

I understand this isn't an AIBU so sorry for that but

I have my first job interview today (video), does anyone have any tips? I haven't got experience for the role which isn't essential as they give full training but it's a role that I completed my a-levels for.

I'm really nervous as I just don't know what to expect. I think I'm so nervous because I really want the job so I feel like a lot is riding on it.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Can you put you laptop up high so you can stand up? This works for me as it helps me keep my back straight, breathe etc
(I put mine on top of a big shoe box on top of the microwave! It also means I can stick some notes on the cupboard underneath!)

Or if you prefer to sit, use a shoe box or something so the camera is at eye level.

Make sure you’re somewhere quiet, and no one is going to interrupt

Wear something you feel confident in, and won’t get too warm

Take some photos using your laptop camera to check how you look/ lighting

Download any app/software you need and test it before the call

Check your microphone is working

Dial in a bit before before the call starts to check everything is working

Remember to breathe

Yay congratulations OP! Wonderful news

Look at the advert and write down all the things they say they want.

So 'passionate about the role' of 'good time management'.

Then in a document write out examples where you have shown you can do/have done those things. Reread your answers and keep it on hand for the interview.

Also, look at some basic interview Qs -
Why do you want the role?
What makes you suitable for the role?
What's your greatest strength/weakness?
What do you know about the company?

Write out your responses and also keep this to hand.

Keep a list of your qualifications and experiences.

Have a small list of questions to ask at the end when they ask you if you have any.

Such as, what would they say is the key responsibility in this position.
Where do they see the majority of your time being spent?
Are weekend hours required or available?
