Will there be a private area, to talk about things that may be identifying? If so I’d join. I know this isn’t entirely doable as anyone who pays would be able to see, but it’s a start (unlikely trolls would pay)

The only stuff I’ve seen is about no ads, which doesn’t bother me (other than the Disney ones I kept accidentally clicking on). That was more annoyance than any urge to pay though

BadLad · 28/05/2020 03:47

It's not as many ads, rather than no ads.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 28/05/2020 03:52

@badlad thank you, I understood it as no ads, I stand corrected though (and a bit more disappointed)

OP posts:
Thepigeonsarecoming · 28/05/2020 03:55

@BadLad do you know any positives then?

OP posts:
ElizabethMainwaring · 28/05/2020 04:06

I joined for a month and then cancelled.
No extras as far as I could see.

LaureBerthaud · 28/05/2020 04:09

I'd love to know how many people have signed up for it.
MNHQ say if you pay for a year's subscription upfront but want to cancel at any point, you can't get a refund Hmm

BeingonFBdoesntmakeittrue · 28/05/2020 04:09

Why would there be a special private area?

I saw Justine said the other day there are plans for everyone to be able to filter an OPs posts on a thread but that for premium, there'd be a function to do that for any poster on the thread.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 28/05/2020 04:11

@ElizabethMainwaring So no positives then? Thank you

OP posts:
BadLad · 28/05/2020 04:11

I don't think anything else has been confirmed. There was talk of an edit function with a short window (about 15 seconds) after posting, to be added some time in the future and "looking at" adding more features in future.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 28/05/2020 04:16

@BeingonFBdoesntmakeittrue I didn’t say there should be, I asked if there would be. I was asking as that would be something which would appeal to me only, I have no interest in ads or filtering OPs posts on a thread. I like to read or at least skim read a whole thread

I’m not looking for arguements, just to see if this is something for me

OP posts:
BeingonFBdoesntmakeittrue · 28/05/2020 07:40

There doesn't seem alot of benefit to premium to me. From the posts i've seen of people who signed up, most considered it more of a donation to help MN out than anything else.

FanSaBhaile · 28/05/2020 08:15

I've seen some posts where it looks like people are quoting other posts (a bit like a screen shot) and presumed that was premium. Easier than trying to remember to bold and failing

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/05/2020 08:18

I've not paid premium (and won't) and I get the quite function coming up when I click the three dots next to a post.

Its not premium Grin
Milicentbystander72 · 28/05/2020 08:19

I joined for a month but have just cancelled.

I use the app on my phone 99% of the time. I literally could see no difference. I also wanted to subscribe to a newspaper so wanted to balance the books.

No problem cancelling though. They replied within an hour.

BeingonFBdoesntmakeittrue · 28/05/2020 08:19

Everyone has the quote feature.

Azaziel · 28/05/2020 08:22

There’s no difference. Seen a few posts from people complaining that they’d to sign up but it was exactly the same. Mumsnet always responds that they’ll be working on it in the future. They’re literally selling and charging people money for a product that doesn’t exist

Azaziel · 28/05/2020 08:22

I don’t know how to quote either :)

FanSaBhaile · 28/05/2020 08:25

Thanks Scarlet & BeingonFB - you learn something new every day. Now to figure out how!Grin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 28/05/2020 08:25

@Azaziel

I don’t know how to quote either :)
If you are on a mobile click on the three dots next to bookmark (where report post is), and theres a new quote function. I'm guessing there is similar on desktop...
Epigram · 28/05/2020 08:28

I quite like your idea of a private members area, OP. I haven't heard that before but you could suggest it to MNHQ?

Callimanco · 28/05/2020 08:30

I paid. Haven't noticed any difference on my phone app, but I am happy to have paid if it means mumsnet keeps going. It has been so incredibly informative to me on a huge range of issues over the years.

TinySleepThief · 28/05/2020 08:32

They’re literally selling and charging people money for a product that doesn’t exist

This is the crux of it. Other than less ads the 'product' is nothing but promises which may or may not be kept. In theory you could pay for a whole year and they could spend it promising to add new features.

MissJaneLockland · 28/05/2020 13:26

The quote function or the vote function doesn't work on the app so I certainly wouldn't pay for it.

RainMustFall · 29/05/2020 16:05

From what I've heard, you get to wear a crown and have a special wand with which you are able to zap any non-premium poster who annoys you. Hmm
