You can tell if a women's had a baby by her stomach

My friends wisdom you can tell a women's had a baby as they have a rounded tummy after. She declared this when I said I was pregnant last time and that she couldn't tell the difference as I always had a rounded tummy ( I'm a tall size 12 normally) Hmm Do you thinks it true ? And why are we all walking around looking 5 months pregnant permanently?

I've had some ab separation after two large babies personally.

Well all these celebs with their flat tummies don't look like they've had babies.

I can get a flat tummy if I started being strict with my eating but I've got stretch marks that will never go away so you can tell on me.

MandosHatHair · 28/05/2020 07:27

My stomach is fine, even after a c-section, not a single stretch mark. If however you were to look at my boobs and the horrible varicose vein on my leg I obtained during pregnancy, then you would be able to tell Grin It's a shame because no one but myself and DH see my stomach.

MattBerrysHair · 28/05/2020 07:30

She's talking bollocks to make you feel bad. I've had 2 DC and my belly button went back to normal and I was slim and flat stomached with no stretch mark's or loose skin. My stomach is only rounded now because I put weight on in the last 4 years and it matches the roundedness of rest of me!

Standrewsschool · 28/05/2020 07:31

I had a round tummy before having children!

Plus I know plenty of flat tummy mums ( #jealous)

Jenasaurus · 28/05/2020 07:33

This reminds me of a comment made by a junior midwife when I was in labour. I commented that I would be glad to get my belly back, and she said, "oh but thats not all baby, I remember you from before you fell pregnant" I was gobsmacked!

CatteStreet · 28/05/2020 07:34

I've had three children, I'm otherwise slim (healthy weight) and I do have a tummy. And I'm tired, frankly, of being made to feel as if this were a terrible aberration and I should do something about it.

Why are we still so susceptible to seeing our looks and figures as our defining achievements or failures?

skinnyhotchoc · 28/05/2020 07:37

Not necessarily my stomach was in a state before pregnancy from yo yo dieting. Looked no worse after pregnancy

NekoShiro · 28/05/2020 07:41

I read somewhere that that little rounded bit of tummy under your belly button is where part of your womb is rested against your insides and pushing your skin forward a lil, which is why it doesn't budge for some women as it's not fat.

SallyWD · 28/05/2020 07:45

No. I have plenty of friends who are mothers with flat stomachs. My own stomach is slightly round (not overweight) but always has been. I get bloated!

Tastethedifference · 28/05/2020 07:47

Nonsense. I had a baby less than 3 months ago and you’d have no idea to look at me.

I’ve been totally normal since about 6 weeks pp. I’m not saying that’s normal but every woman is different.

orangeblosssom · 28/05/2020 07:50

Time to get a new friend

BakewellGin1 · 28/05/2020 07:51

I personally feel your friend is being a dick... Granted yes you would guess and say I had children I'm struggling to shift the 'pouch'... However I have two friends one who has not long had a 4th child who is teeny tiny and unless she had them with her you'd never know... The second well she just looks bloody amazing still has flat stomach and lovely figure... Was in heels and skinny jeans 2 weeks after her baby.

Everyone is different.

pictish · 28/05/2020 08:02

Really it just sounds like the sort of inane drivel people say for the sake of it.

Tearingmyhairout0110 · 28/05/2020 08:03

I've had 2 babies and my tummy looks no different.

cdtaylornats · 28/05/2020 08:05

You can tell a woman's had a baby because it will be mentioned in every conversation for the next 30 years.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 28/05/2020 08:18

Bollocks of the highest order!

My stomach is flat- have had two babies over 9lbs. I know plenty of young women who have never had kids who have rounded tummies- its completely normal and she can piss right off with her body shaming crap.

MoMagic · 28/05/2020 08:19

I’m 40 and have 3 dc, incl 4 yr old twins. My stomach is the flattest it’s ever been thanks to diet and exercise after a health scare last year.

She’s talking nonsense and trying to have a sly dig. I call jealously

CovidicusRex · 28/05/2020 08:22

Not everyone’s stomach muscles return to normal afterwards. Mine haven’t entirely but that is entirely through a lack of exercising. Even then I don’t look pregnant (it was just completely flat before). A lot of people are shocked when they find out that I have two children. I’ve even had some people do the whole jaw drop thing. Clearly there are a lot of misconceptions about what mothers look like out there.

TheBlueStocking · 28/05/2020 08:24

No, this isn't true at all. My stomach looks exactly the same as it did.

And I didn't do anything special either. My mum and my sister are both the same. No stretch marks and flat stomach. It's just genetics. Even my grandmother was the same after six pregnancies.

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/05/2020 08:24

Not true.

BornInAThunderstorm · 28/05/2020 08:28

You can tell if a woman’s an arsehole by the snide shite that comes out of her mouth Grin

LightenUpSummer · 28/05/2020 08:35

BornInAThunderstorm Yup!

Letthemysterybe · 28/05/2020 08:39

I had a lovely rounded tummy before children. Now it is a wobbling, wrinkly, saggy mass.

middleager · 28/05/2020 08:42

What a ridiculous thing to say. When I hit puberty I had a 'ring' of fat around my belly that never went away.

Whereas there's no way she'd be able to guess that Kate Moss, Davina Mcall and Keira Knightley are mothers based on their stomachs.

FinallySleeping · 28/05/2020 08:45

I think she's wrong but even if she's right why the fuck should we care? Breaking news: body goes through major event and changes as a result.
