MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately · 28/05/2020 09:03

Papa Don't Preach and Like a Prayer for me.

LunaNorth · 28/05/2020 19:45

I’ve just cooked dinner while singing along to The Immaculate Collection thanks to this thread. What tunes!

She was so cool, back in the day.

NeedToKnow101 · 29/05/2020 15:21

Crazy for you was my first and deepest (only tbh?) heartbreak song.

YgritteSnow · 29/05/2020 15:22

Live to tell.

YgritteSnow · 29/05/2020 15:27

I absolutely loved her when I was teen. She was exceptional.

westenddweller · 29/05/2020 16:13

@EmeraldShamrock

Me too. My favourite is like a prayer or live to tell they are close favourites depending on my mood.
Live to Tell.

Til Death Do Us Part.

Cherish.

Basically the Like a Prayer album!

EllaAlright · 29/05/2020 16:17

You’ll see. I’m sure I read that it was about her marriage to Sean Penn.

I thought Til Death Do Us Part is...
EmeraldShamrock · 29/05/2020 16:46

My DF hated me listening to all Madonna's music as a DC. When I use to listen to papa don't preach I'd day dream about growing up getting pregnant as a teen and telling Dad while playing it in the backroom. Grin
I was 28 when I got pregnant so to late.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 29/05/2020 16:48

Going against the grain here with Lucky Star. Classic 80s Madge.

From the 90s, I like Vogue

Flibbitygibbit · 29/05/2020 16:53

Masterpiece
Rescue me
Justify my love

TheVanguardSix · 29/05/2020 16:56

I'm with you, OP.

Lucky Star might be my actual favourite
Borderline (because that was the first time I heard/saw Madonna on MTV and I had a proper girl crush on her)
Holiday
Lucky Star
Get Into the Groove
Dress You Up
Papa Don't Preach
Live to Tell
Cherish (I looooved this song in my teens. I had the cassette and I am sure I melted it into my Walkman during that summer in Maine.)
Justify My Love made me want to discover getting laid like, right now, this minute. Grin

Get Together from Confessions on a Dance Floor is a brilliant track, as is Hung Up and Forbidden Love from the same album. I really love that album.

DKanin · 29/05/2020 16:58

Mine would have to be Frozen

Followed by Papa don't preach and Like a Prayer

WingBingo · 29/05/2020 17:00

Borderline was the first record I ever bought.

9” from Woolworths.

PeppermintSoda · 29/05/2020 17:02

I like Live to Tell

Leflic · 29/05/2020 17:05

This is a revelation. I literally remember thinking “what a tedious, slightly out if tune sing, no one would like this” .

And you all do.Mind blown as they say.

There’s no Madonna songs I actually like apart from the o e that uses Gimme Gimme Gimme in it. And obviously that’s mostly because it ABBA.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 29/05/2020 17:05

Love old Madonna songs, so this is hard!
Borderline definitely a favourite, love Spotlight and Physical Attraction too

vikingwife · 29/05/2020 17:06

Such an underrated madge song

Leflic · 29/05/2020 17:06

Sorry. Typos. Sat in the sun can’t see a thing.

TheVanguardSix · 29/05/2020 17:08

Oh! Thought I posted already! At risk of repeating myself...

You know what her best later track is? Get Together from Confessions on a Dance Floor. That is a tune!

I was pretty much in love with the woman when I was 11 years old. I just drooled over her, totally mesmerised. Lucky Star, Borderline, Burning Up, Holiday (sang this when DS1 was in reception at his primary school's parents' talent show. I still die a little every time I remember dressing up as Madge circa '83 and one of the mums came up to me afterward and said, 'You didn't sing it. You sort of shouted Holiday.' I can still remember the teachers' faces. Awful. It's taken close to 15 years, but I think DS and I moved past it.). Anyway, Madge's early stuff is just brilliant. Cherish... oh I loved that track. Papa Don't Preach. Her videos were perfection.

Justify My Love. Crazy sexy that video.

happyandsingle · 29/05/2020 17:18

Also love Spanish eyes from like a prayer and ghost town.

MargotLovedTom1 · 29/05/2020 17:27

She was too chipmunk squeaky in the early days, although Like a Virgin is classic.

For me, the best ones are:
Vogue
Like a Prayer
Justify My Love
The Power of Goodbye (and Goran Visjnic (sp!) in the video).

MargotLovedTom1 · 29/05/2020 17:29

Oh, and True Blue and Live To Tell (which my fevered teenage brain liked to think of as a soundtrack to the Flowers in the Attic books Grin).

rayoflightboy · 29/05/2020 17:34

I love all her songs,I'm a massive fan.You actually forget how many amazing songs she has.

But I really really dislike 2 of them.
Me Against The Music
4 Minutes
They are the only 2 songs I refuse to listen too.

TheWernethWife · 29/05/2020 17:45

Open Your Heart is fabulous - was going to use it for our wedding. Settled for Our love is here to stay instead.
