And the like a prayer record had a patchouli scented sleeve for the record

zippyswife · 27/05/2020 21:50

Love borderline. Good call OP

Mandelinka · 27/05/2020 21:55

Rain
Dear Jessie
True blue
Frozen
La Isla Bonita
Live to tell
I’ll remember

Twixes · 27/05/2020 21:56

I flipping love Borderline! Underrated and under-played

Ginger1982 · 27/05/2020 22:01

Oops!! I mean Playground not Playgroup!! 😂

Love Live To Tell too. The film is good too.

Dita73 · 27/05/2020 22:03

Bad Girl is one of my favourites. Christopher Walken in the video as the tap dancing ghost was good. Let’s face it though, when you’re on your own in the car and any Madonna song comes on,we all turn it up and sing with scary enthusiasm! It’s the only thing you can do

isabellerossignol · 27/05/2020 22:04

I think if I played the Like a Prayer album and sniffed the scented cover of the album, I would immediately be transported to the school trip I went on when it was newly released, and I listened to it constantly on my fancy brand new Walkman. Until the batteries ran out and it was playing at about half speed...

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 27/05/2020 22:06

Hell, no. Far too repetitive.

For me it would be 'Ray of Light', 'Respect Yourself' and I quite like 'Live to Tell' and 'Like a Prayer'. As for the early stuff, 'Holiday' never fails to put me in a good mood, in the same sort of way most tracks by The Pixies do!

I'm normally a rock and classical fan. But Madonna is a stand-out. When she first arrived on the scene I don't believe anyone had seen a female artist quite like her before. I also loved Desperately Seeking Susanand was quite upset when the actor who played Gary Glass, 'Spa King of New Jersey', died of CV19 this year. He was brilliant.

userxx · 27/05/2020 22:07

This is taking me right back, she was frickin amazing back in the day.

SimplySteveRedux · 27/05/2020 22:07

Frozen, Like A Prayer then Borderline for me. Amazing tunes, think I'll go have a listen Smile

Caribbeanescape · 27/05/2020 22:07

I agree OP, Borderline is my favourite, along with Dear Jessie.

Goonergirl14 · 27/05/2020 22:07

I love all her early stuff, Dress you Up and Causing a Commotion are two of my faves.

rayoflightboy · 27/05/2020 22:08

Actually, Borderline is great, but it would be better if she had sung it later when she had a much stronger voice, if you know what I mean. Her voice when she started out was very thin and weak. Then she obviously had training and her voice improved.

I love the version she sings on Jimmy Fallon, its gorgeous.

My favourite is Bad Girl and Whiteheat.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 27/05/2020 22:10

There are just so many but I adore her early stuff
Spotlight
Over and over
Everybody
Where’s the Party
Physical attraction
Pretty much anything on the ‘You can dance’ album actually

LunaNorth · 27/05/2020 22:13

Borderline
Papa Don’t Preach
Crazy For You
Cherish
Ray of Light
True Blue

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 27/05/2020 22:13

Just RTFT and am laughing my socks off at the error in the album title 'Immaculate Conception'. By an artist called 'Madonna'. Ha ha, that's brilliant (and yes, small things do amuse small minds Grin Grin

heymammy · 27/05/2020 22:14

I can barely choose a favourite song from the Immaculate Collection!

SimplySteveRedux · 27/05/2020 22:14

Hmm, think Something to Remember is my fave album though, have just been reminded how many absolute gems are on there. I also used to call The Immaculate Conception, completely unaware why people sniggered at my 13 yo self Grin

rayoflightboy · 27/05/2020 22:15

I love her Madame X album,its beautiul.

I love Crave and looking for Mercy.

Also Ghosttown would have been a major hit if anyone else released it.

mintich · 27/05/2020 22:17

Open your heart!

Doggybiccys · 27/05/2020 22:17

Open your heart is my fave - total pop tuuuuune! Followed by like a prayer and hung up - hung up probs because I love the dancing in the video and the Abba backtrack.

I think cherish is rubbish - amazing how tastes differ.

Doggybiccys · 27/05/2020 22:18

Should have said - not her dancing in hung up, the others in the video!

BreadandMarmalade · 27/05/2020 22:21

Oh my goodness.

It's a hard one .

Holiday
Into the Groove
Vogue

Probably my top three tunes

Doggybiccys · 27/05/2020 22:21

@mintich - x post - what great tase you have. I had the 12” single with the big long intro which got me all worked up and ready for a night out down the local disco!!

OhIWouldDrive260Miles · 27/05/2020 22:21
