Specs Emergency Dilemma

One of my DCs has broken my only pair of specs. I am also due an eye test and so I don't feel it is wise to just get a repeat prescription. My opticians is closed to patients for testing because of coronavirus.

Would IBU to exercise my personal judgement to drive to Barnard Castle as I can't go to the opticians?

For the avoidance of doubt, I would have to take the DCs with me, any one of us might need the loo, but it isn't anyone's birthday.

Thank you.

Are your spx for reading or single vision. Post your last prescription on here and we can advise. You can also contact your own optician for an emergency appt. Only 1 pair and broken would be classed as such.

Sorry, did initially see the irony

Just use your instincts.

(Or if you’re not best buds with someone who will cover your arse, get a cheap pair of glasses with your current prescription. When you can get an eye test again then do so and get the glasses you would’ve chosen, keep the cheap pair as emergency spares.)

Thank you pps for helpful advice.

I don't know if it's relevant but Barnard Castle isn't in the same direction as my opticians.

Thank you, pp. And if I travel twice that distance, surely the eye test will be twice as good?

I have been wondering if it is safe to drive with my family in the car with me, if I am worried about my eyesight? AIBU?
