I'm so over this now. 2 school age kids 6 and 8 and the work load is vast. I'm on my own and also have a wild 4 year old. We were into a good routine of me sitting with one for a few hours while the other played with my boy then vice versa.
This week I'm done, cannot be arsed with any more!!

Its half term, don't worry about it.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/05/2020 14:28

Yep I’ve backed off massively over half term and we’re all so much happier for it.

bigchris · 27/05/2020 14:29

Are you in England where it is half term ?

PeppermintSoda · 27/05/2020 14:29

Yes, give them half term off. Have a beeak, have a kitkat

Louise000000 · 27/05/2020 14:30

What's it half term for in England? We only have 4 more weeks till summer hols anyway but still! 😂

PeppermintSoda · 27/05/2020 14:31

Could you say you got mixed up and thought it was half term there too Grin

PeppermintSoda · 27/05/2020 14:32

Because schools break up late July in England. Too late imo. I prefer the Scottish terms

PeppermintSoda · 27/05/2020 14:33

In England we have all the nice weather while they are at school so they are sweltering. Then they break up late July and the sky instantly turn grey and the nights start drawing in

ShandlersWig · 27/05/2020 14:33

Have a break for the rest of the list....

ShandlersWig · 27/05/2020 14:33

Week!

Louise000000 · 27/05/2020 14:35

Ah I see, to be fair the teachers don't seem to be putting too much pressure on. I've just lost my mojo!!
I also started off saying I'd be doing daily hiit and juicing too...... I'm now on the gin and tonic and fags which is an equally enjoyable combo!!

I grew up in NI, which has similar terms to Scotland. On balance I think I prefer the English system. The summer term and the summer holidays were too long in NI.

OP as soon as I posted that it was half term I realised you probably weren't in England. Pretend its half term anyway, or that your homeschool is closed or on a field trip or something. What are essentials, what really needs to be done?

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 27/05/2020 14:36

Half term in this household too. Should have been flying to Turkey today so we've been for a picnic and a walk instead! Not quite the same but at least it's sunny.

Louise000000 · 27/05/2020 14:37

The three kids are playing a really fun sounding game together and they have been at it for hours, it's a shame to interrupt them!

Yes completely. DD has 2 class teacher's Ireland A resource teacher, physiotherapist with exercise sheets to fill. She is avoids everything I'm stress our relationship is suffering, we get at least 3 subjects complete each day but it is killing me mentally trying to motivate her while communicating with 4 adults.
While DS aged 5 also ASD is full on always.
I literally signed this post with kind regards lucky I checked before posting

I’ve had enough of it. Have a seven year old who makes me spell out every word she writes, a two year old is developmentally delayed and screams constantly. An ex partner who refuses to help other than basic feeding and nappy changes whilst I’m in work. I’m a nurse who still has to work 3 days a week. I got to the point where I could have jumped out of a window quite happily. I’m now on antidepressants which have helped a lot. Women are getting an even shitter deal than usual. I feel sorry for you, I couldn’t cope with 3 children and no break.

Louise000000 · 27/05/2020 14:47

My 6 year old is literally getting maths, spelling, phonics, writing, wildlife project and reading every day! Never mind vids of gaelic and French to watch!!
My 8 year old only seems to get a couple of tasks but they are time consuming, projects, posters, write a story. It's hard to keep them engaged!

@emeraldshamrock when it's getting to that level of stress somethings got to give!

To be honest now is the time to up it as we don,t know when it will be back to full schooling. Make a time table I fund it really helped. Both me knowing how to help them, and them knowing what to do and not getting boared.

Louise000000 · 27/05/2020 14:48

I have to say I'm happier in lockdown without my husband living here than in full freedom and having him here!! Sounds weird but it's true!!

Done, we not doing another tap untill they back to school, suits us fine as both of us working opposite each other and 2 babies also 2 school age, we are done, if all they do is read between now and back to school, then all is great, we contacted teachers and told both we were done and she completely agreed

Merryoldgoat · 27/05/2020 14:49

Louise000000 · 27/05/2020 14:49

Were parents ever told they had to home school?
