I work as lunchtime staff in our local junior school.Just had a call from head asking if ok to come back as we are needed.Thought it was just press drivvle that schools would reopen next week. Its an academy if that makes a difference.Ds is at the primary of the same academy and havent heard anything regarding that yet.

They are opening a few years at a time, chances are your child’s not in the class that’s opening. YANBU though, I would of thought they’d of given you longer than a weeks notice they’ve had 3 weeks to organise it.

Thought it was just press drivvle that schools would reopen next week

Boris announced it several weeks ago, confirmed on Monday that it was still the plan and said it would be confirmed for definite on Thursday.

Ds is in yr 1 so he is included in the children returning

It's varying by school and authority depending on what they judge to be safe. The ideal is that Reception, Y1, Y6 and nursery all go back on the 1st.

The reality is that it's likely to be staged, and not all groups will go back due to lack of space due to distancing. For example, my son's school can only fit 10 in a classroom, so if his class goes back, they would need 3 classrooms just for them.

You've ignored the government announcements about your sons school and your workplace? Aren't you getting updates from school? I find it difficult to believe your school haven't announced their plans.

You might want to check because our school are only taking year 6 and not until mid June

justhereforthetips · 27/05/2020 13:23

How could you think it was press drivvle when it was actually announced by the PM in a broadcast on tv?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/05/2020 13:26

No updates from school just that they would be in touch in due course

I’m a bit confused as to why you’re surprised. Boris announced on TV that schools would be reopening.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/05/2020 13:27

How could it be drivvle when it was announced ?

PurpleDaisies · 27/05/2020 13:27
Confused

They’ve been talking about this for ages now.

Sorry but that's more than one and I can't take it. It's DRIVEL

I'd assume the rest of us were being a bit tongue in cheek ...
