Our next door neighbours are on the whole very lovely. We get on well with them and during lockdown we have helped them get some shopping bits and vice versa.
The husband has been landscaping his garden single handedly for nearly a year. They are both retired and in their 60s. For the past year- at least 6 days a week, if not 7, we have had around 4-6 hours on and off of building noise, angle grinding, heavy drilling which shakes our house, sledge hammering which also vibrates through our house etc. It has been annoying at times but we know this is a project that now started needs to be finished and people are entitled to do what they need/want to their houses. The only time we've asked him to be mindful and not noisy during is 12-1.45pm because that is our DD's nap time. Working from home means that nap time is even more sacrosanct so DH and I can get some work done!
In the last 4 weeks we have had to ask him 3 times to cease noisy works, which have just started up at midday. On the whole no work tends to begin until 12 for some reason.
AWBU to think that he should respect our request for no noisy works between 12-1.45pm the first time around? And that we shouldn't have to keep asking?
I am really keen for us to maintain good relationship with them as it's nice to be on good terms with your neighbours.
