To ask for your definition of a bot, in the context of MN

I've been in IT for many years. My understanding of a bot is that it's a machine operated (and income cases generated) account that needs zero to little human intervention.

It's just occurred to me that like many widely understood IT terms like Phising and Troll, Bot may have a unique and special meaning to MN users.

I agree with your definition but Bot is now widely used on twitter if a poster has extreme views which they stand by even when logic dictates otherwise ( think brainwashed cult member) or where they repeat and repeat (like a broken record) or in situations where it seems like that person has no human empathy and can not possibly be really.

I would also include (barely) human social media posters who repeatedly post messages prepared by someone else in support of political ideas or personnel.

For example all the tweets from Tory MP bots "Dominic Cummings has done nothing wrong"
