To be tired of people filming themselves crying?

Washyourhands48 · 26/05/2020 11:40

For social media likes?

First we had the nurse at the start of lockdown who couldn’t get any apples.

Now we have a care worker filming someone in a store for berating her for wearing her uniform shopping and then filming herself crying in her car!

Give over!

@SharonasCorona totally agree about the Nationwide ads. Especially the annoying woman saying "How ARE you, I really mean that. Sorry about all the weight gain. Hope you are on top of that" Just fuck off with all the self indulgent talking to your future self crap.

And the Juststoppit nurse pissed me off. It's narcissism at its best. What normal person films themselves crying and then posts it on social media? I get she was in a shit situation but the crying on film made me cringe.

SockYarn · 26/05/2020 15:51

It's the ultimate in attention seeking.

Add "I'm a key worker" for bonus points. Triple for a film in uniform.

daisychain01 · 26/05/2020 15:53

How old are these people - 10?

480Widdio · 26/05/2020 15:55

I couldnt believe the carer! What was she thinking posting that on social media and it getting to the Press! She was in the wrong!I bet she is amazed that she is not being supported.

KaronAVyrus · 26/05/2020 15:59

I really would like to see a return to the stiff upper lip attitude.
When this is all over I would like the handwashing to stay; social kissing to vanish and a return to people not talking about their emotions.

alwayskissmegoodnight · 26/05/2020 16:06

Me tooooo

TrickyKid · 26/05/2020 16:08

Yanbu. If they were genuinely upset I doubt they'd be thinking about getting their phone out to record themselves.

BippityBoppity87 · 26/05/2020 16:20

I put this is the same vein as when I see “I feel so ugly today” “I don’t like the way I look” etc, followed by some duck face pose or bunny ear picture. If I’m feeling unattractive for whatever reason, I don’t take a picture of myself let alone put it on bloody fb. Unless I’m missing something

Washyourhands48 · 26/05/2020 16:25

Interesting updates on the original Facebook post and also in the Daily Mail comments , apparently the lady telling the carer off is a Covid Nurse in ICU! Also the filming only shows half a story.

I read somewhere that she was a nursing lecturer at wolves uni.

The cater sounds like a prize idiot.

KingOfDogShite · 26/05/2020 16:33

Senior Lecturer of Adult Nursing no less.

Tigerty · 26/05/2020 16:38

I read the thread title and thought oh is Sam Smith at it again? Blush

Social media brings out a lot of virtue signalling and attention seeking. Has it got worse since lockdown or are we simply noticing it more?

maddiemookins16mum · 26/05/2020 16:53

I have literally just had this pop up on my Fakebook newsfeed.
My sister is a Support Worker, with one of the Nurse type uniforms, it’s written in their contract that they change into it on arrival at work and remove it before leaving. You don’t see Chefs in their gear in shops do you.
It’s very unhygenic.

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 26/05/2020 17:42

YANBU

  1. no healthcare worker should commute in their uniform. Not to mention going to a supermarket!
  2. Stop filming the crocodile tears! Novelty worn off by now. We are just pissed off about the attention they are getting while there are other key workers who I deem more important! Like anyone in a supermarket or my postman!
  3. I am glad I am not alone with the lack of sympathy for these...
skinnyhotchoc · 26/05/2020 18:31

I commented on that yesterday. There were people wishing Coronavirus on the woman who confronted her and saying they hoped she'd die?! It was obscene. I have no idea what the rules are for this particular woman but nurses aren't supposed to be wearing their uniform out and about so whys she any different?

skinnyhotchoc · 26/05/2020 18:41

@Washyourhands48 I can't find the original fb post now

Washyourhands48 · 26/05/2020 19:01

@skinnyhotchoc

Just looked and it’s now been deleted. Possibly this suspension from her job rumour is true?

The poor woman who she was filming was outed and hounded on Twitter until she deleted her account! People are cunts!

I am a home carer doing domiciliary, so if I'm working for 10 hrs can I not pop into the supermarket to get something? and when I do shopping calls do I have to get changed in my car and then changed back in the 5 mins I get between calls including the drive? please let me know, am curious... not

I did this for a while and the uniform was a tab add type top - we were told (and it was in the contract) to remove between clients and put it on again when we arrived at the next place.

I just wore a t shirt under, removed it before I left their front door.

There’s a go fund me for the carer now, you can find it by searching the carer’s name on Facebook.

Newcatmum · 26/05/2020 22:49

My mum is an NHS admin staff and she now has to change out of her uniform into her own clothes every day before she leaves work and take it home to wash.

DJTanner · 26/05/2020 22:49

I've noticed lots of Instamums regularly post photos of themselves when they've been crying. It's pathetic and attention seeking.
