To be tired of people filming themselves crying?

Washyourhands48 · 26/05/2020 11:40

For social media likes?

First we had the nurse at the start of lockdown who couldn’t get any apples.

Now we have a care worker filming someone in a store for berating her for wearing her uniform shopping and then filming herself crying in her car!

Give over!

God it's exasperating.

From Sam Smith crying outside his million pound home or a tired hospital worker....there's a huge range but I'm afraid all of it is pissing me off.

wenhen11 · 26/05/2020 14:01

Yanbu op. While i can understand people being upset during these times and empathise, i think filming themselves crying can sometimes be attention seeking. It kinda reminds me of a friend i have who says over and over that she' 'not ok' but when i ask her what's wrong, she always responds with 'nothing'

onesmalldog · 26/05/2020 14:02

One thing I never understand is the need to film EVERYTHING. There's an argument in a shop - film it. You're having a bad day and are crying in the car - film it. See a gang of kids beating the shit out of a copper - film it. Put the phone down and bloody DO SOMETHING about it. Irritates me no end.

Lol! Grin Grin

As long as people keep posting pictures of their lunch; my day would not be complete without it.

DioneTheDiabolist · 26/05/2020 14:04

Are they "pretty" criers? My face looks all blotchy and melty when I cry, no way would i film it.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 14:07

The Nationwide adverts get on my tits.

MuthaClucker · 26/05/2020 14:10

YANBU

Even the original nurse one ("just stoppit!") made me cringe, I know that makes me a hideous cunt.

wenhen11 · 26/05/2020 14:27

@onesmalldog i couldn't agree more. Where i live people have videod other people standing on bridges about to commit suicide; instead of actively trying to get help for them

Billyjoearmstrong · 26/05/2020 14:41

Attention seeking bullshit.
And I include everyone who does it in that.

(Also I was a HCP for years. It was in my contract not to wear my uniform outside work).

Made me laugh and cringe at the same time @MuthaClucker so I’m one too.

I'm also wondering how carers are to go about some of thier work.

I arrived at my GP's the other week to find the door blocked by someone in uniform. I assumed she was a gatekeeper of somesort and asked if I had to speak to her before I went in. She just said "oh I'm waiting for the pharmacy" (opposite to surgery)

I assumed she was collecting a prescription for a client, so what was she meant to do ?

JovialNickname · 26/05/2020 14:47

It's embarrassing. I cringe myself inside out when I see footage of someone filming themselves crying. Besides which, if they've got the technical nouse and presence of mind to film themselves squeezing a few tears out, fiddling with their phone whilst simultaneously assembling their features into a scrunchy crying face, then they're not really that upset are they. (I know my phone's in here somewhere, oh wait there it it's, yes that's the video button, oh no it's not the video button, must keep face grimaced and eyes closed)

JovialNickname · 26/05/2020 14:50

Oh also if children do that fake crying thing we tell them off

Bebbanburger · 26/05/2020 14:52

I know, not keen on this sort of over sharing at all. I saw a headline and photo yesterday of Catherine Tildsley having a social media cry and didn't click on it even though I like her.

newyearnoeu · 26/05/2020 14:55

I agree, nothing makes me cringe harder. It's been a "thing" for a while though, well before covid. Even mary beard who I thought was as sensible and down to earth as can be, did it on Twitter. Why? If someone says "I cried" or "I'm sad" I believe them, I don't require proof! Are people going to start posting pictures of their vomit to prove that something "makes them sick" as the next logical step?

Goodfood1 · 26/05/2020 15:15

I am a home carer doing domiciliary, so if I'm working for 10 hrs can I not pop into the supermarket to get something? and when I do shopping calls do I have to get changed in my car and then changed back in the 5 mins I get between calls including the drive? please let me know, am curious... not

As for the attention seekers being annoyed I agree 100%

myusernamewastakenbyme · 26/05/2020 15:19

That original nurse one really annoyed me too....

Savingshoes · 26/05/2020 15:20

Anyone who work in hospitals, hospices, nursing and residential homes are trained in infection control.
I haven't read the article but it's important that the do not arrive in uniform and take all uniform off before leaving.
This reduces spread of infection not just covid.
Those who do not wear scrubs wash uniform separately and at over 60'.
Those that cannot adhere to these rules need retraining and suspension if they fail to follow and understand the implications of their actions.

user1471565182 · 26/05/2020 15:20

I have noticed a massive increase in people wandering around in uniforms. Surely its a cross contamination nightmare?

NeutrinoWrangler · 26/05/2020 15:23

Yes, it's one thing to feel emotionally overwhelmed and have a cry. To film yourself crying and share it with the world? That's painfully embarrassing and makes me less likely to sympathise.

peaceanddove · 26/05/2020 15:28

The original juststoppit nurse made me role my eyes. Supposedly she had just come off a long shift in her hospital and yet she had plenty of make up on all still pristine.

It's self indulgent, attention seeking.

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 26/05/2020 15:37

I agree in regard to uniform. No , you should not be popping any where in uniform. As far as I am aware chefs can't do this ,fast food workers can't do this and I hope nurses etc should not do this is. It is wrong, either before work , after work or during.

MashedSpud · 26/05/2020 15:40

Totally agree. About all of it.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 26/05/2020 15:42

I look such a mess when I cry, how do people manage to cry in an attractive and filmable way?

I agree this particular care worker should not have worn her uniform out, and I'm all cry videoed out. Make it stop.

AnduinsGirl · 26/05/2020 15:44

Hideous cunt checking in here. It's absolutely fucking ridic. It's like emotions and experiences are no longer real if kept private and not offered up to the public gaze. Deeply shit.

I wonder about that, I suppose you can see what your rules of conduct say?
