Mammyloveswine at the time she was 'Parachuting' and 'Fight, Fight, Fighting.... for this - erm - divorce' from Ashley Cole

I absolutely love the track '3 Words' by Cheryl and Will.i.am. Definitely worth checking it out/a revisit

Summer 2010 was one of the best times in my life so I remember the music fondly.
Tinie Tempah - ‘pass out’ was played everywhere
David Guetta seemed to have a track out every week- when love takes over, memories, sexy bitch, who’s that chick
Rihanna- rude boy
Bruno Mars- beautiful girls
Usher- OMG
Katy Perry
Nikki Minaj
Flo Ryder
And soo many others!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 25/05/2020 22:32

They are listenable, but would say that 1985 to 1998 were the last consistently good years, with a few honourable exceptions for American punk rock in the 00s.

happyhappyhour · 25/05/2020 22:32

Ohh and does anyone remember ‘Katy B’? Don’t know what happened to her.

StirlingWork · 25/05/2020 22:33

happyhapphour - aw you've jogged some excellent memories for me.

Who can forget - Chris Brown 'Beautiful People'
which includes the lyric - "Take your time, Take your time, Take your sexy time" - love it

I voted YABU because the 80s were the best music Grin

StirlingWork · 25/05/2020 22:34

happyhappyhour - she's probably 'Still Moving With the Lights On ! Wink

StumblingOffTheRocks · 25/05/2020 22:35

90’s definitely.

StirlingWork · 25/05/2020 22:37

Also, I'm now 47 but was ID'd twice in January 2012 for alcohol - once in M & S and once in Sainsburys.

Now can you understand why I loved that era?

OP posts:
Mummyshark2019 · 25/05/2020 22:38

80s and 90s all the way! Music is shit now.

StirlingWork · 25/05/2020 22:39

just as well you don't live next door Grin

I may have been playing a bit of Saturdays earlier this evening

= Up is where we go from here!!

OP posts:
Silenceisnotgolden · 25/05/2020 22:48

Nope. It was really quite dire.
90’s and early noughties were full to the brim with brilliant music of many genres.

StirlingWork · 25/05/2020 22:52

Hmm - also up for a bit of Basshunter and early Avicii (Levels)

OP posts:
StirlingWork · 25/05/2020 23:05

Oops forgot to mention - at sometime during this point I was

'just a small town girl ...living in a lonely world'
so not in

'Noo York - concrete jungle where dreams are made of..."

happyhappyhour · 26/05/2020 00:01

Yes I remember beautiful people by Chris Brown, also ‘yeah x 3’ that was played a lot when I went out.
‘Moving with the lights on’ was played at kicking out time at one of the clubs I went to when the lights went on Grin

Tigger85 · 26/05/2020 01:07

90s and 00s rock/alternative/pop rock for me. I only like pink and gaga from your pop music lists. I'm 34. My teenage years and early 20s were mostly filled with pop punk, emo and indie bands.

Goosefoot · 26/05/2020 01:13

I think there was great music from the early 60's up to the late 80's.

Then it all went to shit.

Oliversmumsarmy · 26/05/2020 01:26

Love different songs from all eras but the 80s has to be the best.

Bowie, Springsteen, Freddie Mercury and Queen not to mention The Housemartins, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and many many more.

What I find the difference nowadays is that a lot of the songs are dirgy ballads or some sort of rap which sounds exactly like the next bit of rap.

You do get good songs but they are the ones that don’t sound like every other song Before you could tell from a few bars which singer/band it was

Anoisagusaris · 26/05/2020 01:31

I feel a bit sorry for you.

rabbitheadlights · 26/05/2020 01:38

Not RTFT but I believe decent music was anywhere before 2000 and im 36!

Willyoujustbequiet · 26/05/2020 03:04

Yabu. Everyone knows the 90s were the best.

HeretoThereandBackAgain · 26/05/2020 04:32

Most popular music since 2000 has been utterly shit. We’ve had Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Maroon 5 fgs. All dire. Amongst many others.

There have been one or two decent songs - Feel It Still and Exes and Oh’s for example, but they are few and far between.

It’s mostly manufactured crap. Cowell and his ilk have a lot to answer for.

CovidicusRex · 26/05/2020 04:54

There was some pretty good music during that time. But nothing you’ve listed can be described as decent.

Whichoneofyoudidthat · 26/05/2020 06:08

80s and 90s. In that order. In terms of defining music of a generation, the 80s has it, kind of like the 60s.

PatricksRum · 26/05/2020 06:17

Yes OP.
N-Dubz
JLS (although family member was in there so I'm biased)
