Bolton's doing an 'in-depth' interview on telly this Sunday night with ABC's Martha Raddatz. She's a very good interviewer so hopefully they'll be some worthwhile info. The 'snip-clips' are tantalizing, but then they always are. It could end up being a big 'nothing-burger'. We're going to DVR it and watch Monday morning.

lionheart · 17/06/2020 17:06

I'll look out for it.

lionheart · 17/06/2020 17:14

I did read Comey's book and compared it to the snippets revealed in the various Intelligence Committee interviews (especially in relation to what Comey did to ensure he got his own way).

It will be interesting to see how his is framed.

This is coming in November (along with some other things):

iftn.ie/news/?act1=record&only=1&aid=73&rid=4293435&tpl=archnews&force=1

'Showtime has revealed the first look at Brendan Gleeson as President Donald J. Trump ahead of the release of their upcoming miniseries The Comey Rule, which is set to release over two nights in late November.
The two-part, four-hour series, which is a TV adaptation of former FBI Director James Comey’s bestselling book A Higher Loyalty, will air on CBS following the outcome of the 2020 US Presidential Election.'

lionheart · 17/06/2020 17:16

Apparently, the book has been supplemented by what was gleaned from a series of interviews with 'key players'.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 17/06/2020 20:13

WSJ is running an actual excerpt of Bolton's book, the part where he recounts Trump asking the communist dictator of China to help him win reelection

"Xi had explained to Trump why he was basically building concentration camps in Xinjiang. According to our interpreter, Trump said that Xi should go ahead with building the camps, which Trump thought was exactly the right thing to do."

Bolton's book is probably giving Trump some serious grief which is great - but Bolton is profiting from information he should have offered in defense of America and the rule of law. He is as guilty as Moscow Mitch and Lady Graham in enabling this sack of shit imbecile.

Rayshard Brooks update: Fired officer is being charged with felony murder along with 10 other charges.

AcrossthePond55 · 17/06/2020 20:57

CNN carrying news conference live now.

AcrossthePond55 · 17/06/2020 21:01

Per CNN:

"Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard announced 11 charges against the former Atlanta officer who shot and killed 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks, including felony murder.

Officer Garrett Rolfe was was fired after footage showed him shooting at Brooks multiple times from the back as Brooks fled.

If found guilty of felony murder, Rolfe faces life in prison without parole.

Another second officer on the scene, Devin Brosnan, is on administrative duty. Howard announced today that Brosnan will be a witness for the state ."

Bolding is mine. It is virtually unheard of for a police officer to turn states evidence and testify against another officer.

Bolton Book Bombshell:

www.cnn.com/2020/06/17/politics/bolton-book-trump/index.html

"Trump asked his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, to help him win the 2020 US presidential election"

"Bolton highlights Trump's willingness to intervene in criminal investigations "to, in effect, give personal favors to dictators he liked," noting cases involving law firms in China and Turkey"

"Bolton says the House impeachment inquiry should have investigated Trump for several potentially dubious actions beyond those related to Ukraine"

Holy Shitballs, Batman!!

lionheart · 17/06/2020 21:35

It seems the lure of a book deal $$$$$ trumps standing up for what is right at the time.

lionheart · 17/06/2020 21:59

From the above.

'Highlights from a copy obtained by the N.Y. Times' Peter Baker:

Impeachment: Bolton says Democrats failed by focusing the probe on Ukraine rather than on other cases involving China and Turkey.

Gossip: Bolton alleges Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slipped him a note calling Trump "full of shit" during a 2018 meeting with Kim Jong-un.

Trump gaffes: Bolton alleges Trump didn't know Great Britain was a nuclear power and claims Trump asked if Finland was part of Russia.

Journalists: Bolton alleges Trump privately told him reporters deserve prison. "These people should be executed. They are scumbags."'

The WP seems to focus attention on China.

www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/06/17/boltons-new-book-blows-apart-one-trumps-biggest-reelection-arguments/

Extract from Bolton''s book:

'In their meeting in Osaka on June 29, Xi told Trump that the U.S.-China relationship was the most important in the world. He said that some (unnamed) American political figures were making erroneous judgments by calling for a new cold war with China.
Whether Xi meant to finger the Democrats or some of us sitting on the U.S. side of the table, I don’t know, but Trump immediately assumed that Xi meant the Democrats. Trump said approvingly that there was great hostility to China among the Democrats. Trump then, stunningly, turned the conversation to the coming U.S. presidential election, alluding to China’s economic capability and pleading with Xi to ensure he’d win. He stressed the importance of farmers and increased Chinese purchases of soybeans and wheat in the electoral outcome. I would print Trump’s exact words, but the government’s prepublication review process has decided otherwise.'

Y'know, if I were planning to publish a book about Trump I would do it and then tell the media. It's hard to prevent someone from doing a thing they have already done.

lionheart · 18/06/2020 15:00

I imagine with people like Bolton there is a requirement that anything published goes through various security checks.

A story about Uncle Donnie is a different beast.

Or shows a different side to the same beast. Smile

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

'Bolton’s book, which is getting terrible reviews, is a compilation of lies and made up stories, all intended to make me look bad. Many of the ridiculous statements he attributes to me were never made, pure fiction. Just trying to get even for firing him like the sick puppy he is!'
