EMBARRASSING!

Trump at West Point giving a speech and desperate for applause. He gets....

stony silence.

B1rdbra1n · 13/06/2020 17:36

stony silence
excellent:o
mind you, it looks to me that he did well suppressing his displeasure, I think you can just spot the emerging micro-expression before he blocks it and moves on?

Roussette · 13/06/2020 17:42

Yes.

There is also footage of him trying to take a sip of water from a glass. Whilst I don't really wish illness or anything on anyone, I have to say it is very obvious that he has lost some mobility in his right arm. A stroke or something.
He picks up the glass and can't get it as far as his mouth, so has to use the other hand to push the glass up to his mouth.

I'm just surprised there isn't any sort of announcement about this because surely he might scrape up some sympathy votes somewhere? Or is coming clean about something like this showing him as weak which he obviously wouldnt countenance.

here's the footage if you want to look

Roussette · 13/06/2020 17:48

The whole thing has gone down badly. Even at the end, there was hardly any applause at all.

And this....

twitter.com/politicususa/status/1271826556583849984

Col. Jack Jacobs on Trump's West Point address: "There's no point in having a situation like this solely for the purpose of giving the president an opportunity to be in front of the cameras."

Dragging 1,000 there just for him. Good to see they all had masks on.

PerkingFaintly · 13/06/2020 18:51

Yep, that looks like me trying to drink on a bad day.

I could talk you through the mechanics, and the way each technique he's using adjusts for each problem, but in brief it's about weakness and poor motor control. (I have whole body weakness, it's not localised to one arm. If it were, I'd just use the other arm in situations like this.)

AcrossthePond55 · 13/06/2020 19:20

Weeellll, to be absolutely fair (which I hate to be with him) I have a mild Essential Tremor and occasionally have to use both hands to stop from slopping a drink down my front or spilling it.

But he's still a prick. I, however, am not. Grin

Try this... eugh.

oh that was SOOO bad, that poor girl clearly reminded him of his daughter:(

Roussette · 13/06/2020 19:56

Agree Across sometimes I can't grab hold of a drink and just drink it, but to him.... it's a weakness - as opposed to something to fess up to.

I wish he could be honest about it, it would count in his favour, really it would. None of us are perfect, there are health probems for all of us, but he is not the ultra fit man he makes out in his medicals!

Sleipnirthewonderhorse · 13/06/2020 22:08

Trump also made rather heavy weather of walking off the state at the end of that speech. He really doesn't look well.

He's always had a thing with stairs. Remember the hand hold with May?
I think it has to do with his girdle and the way he stands projected to the front. He must end up with balance issues.

Or possible lift shoes ( www.econotimes.com/Donald-Trumps-posture-is-allegedly-bad-because-he-wears-a-girdle-Obese-POTUS-reportedly-very-vain-1574976 )

Or all.

Ivanka wants some real power in return for being ogled by her despicable father

B1rdbra1n · 13/06/2020 23:55

Ouch😖, trump's descent of the ramp looked extremely uncomfortable, like a little old man inching along😖
and at the end of it he appeared to do a jaunty little dance to try and cover up 🤣

TheSparklyPussycat · 14/06/2020 00:50

B1rdbra1n do you realise what you have done? I have watched the latter end of the WP ceremony, and heard the WP song and the Army song and the swearing the oath and the chaplain giving a blessing, all with some amazement. Just so I could see Trump going down the ramp.

As far as I can see, he was putting his left foot down on to the next step, then bringing his other foot down beside it, rather than on the next step down, hence as you say, like a little old man, or someone who had to favour one leg. Or maybe the individual steps were an awkward length for his legs.

I am spending too much time Trump watching.

B1rdbra1n · 14/06/2020 01:13

My apologies🙏
I know one can feel rather ill😳quite quickly upon too much exposure to 'the changeling' like that😖
Then again he did have the confidence for a little dance🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

TheSparklyPussycat · 14/06/2020 01:28

OTOH the helicopter flyover was rather cool...

SabrinaThwaite · 14/06/2020 06:06

Trump’s Tweeted about the ramp being slippery (yeah, right), but it was a ramp with no steps, he’s definitely favouring one leg with his baby steps. Plus he’s slurring more now.

BruceAndNosh · 14/06/2020 06:35

I'd find it hard to walk down a ramp in 3 inch heels too...

SabrinaThwaite · 14/06/2020 07:10

... especially with a belly like that to add some forward momentum.

But seriously - women can wear high heels and manage to walk up and down ramps. And surely by now he’s been wearing lifts long enough to be able to walk in them?

Roussette · 14/06/2020 07:45

The ramp walking is how a child or an elderly person being careful would take it. I imagine it is like walking down the ramp of a ship... you can either go for it walking normally like it was your stairs at home, or you take one step and bring the other foot together to the first one, then repeat... just like a child would learn to walk down steps.

Looking at the attached which I have seen before and describes Trump's condition to a T... I know we all pray he doesn't win another term, but honestly... would his health allow it?

Roussette · 14/06/2020 08:17

He is so touchy isn't he...
And he ran?! Grin
This tweet almost makes me feel sorry for him (only almost!). But then I remember how vile he was to Hillary Clinton when she collapsed with pneumonia and I'm not sorry for him at all. To be so desperate to show he's big and strong is pretty pathetic.

@realDonaldTrump
The ramp that I descended after my West Point Commencement speech was very long & steep, had no handrail and, most importantly, was very slippery. The last thing I was going to do is “fall” for the Fake News to have fun with. Final ten feet I ran down to level ground. Momentum!
