Can I say here a thing that is bothering me?
On MN you cannot move for discussion of "identity politics". It is almost always labelled as being a feature of The Left, and there's discussion in endless detail of how the The Left is a failure because, identity politics.
Meanwhile the most blatant, centuries-old practice of identity politics – ie white supremacism – is being actively promoted, often in universities and of course on YouTube and Twitter, and even handily names itself an identitarian movement or Generation Identity, just in case anyone missed a point.
And on this subject MN is completely silent.
MNers have been discussing identity politics for years now, and actively look for links and similarities with many, many other movements and activities: 1970s paedophiles, animal rights activists, student politics (but only leftwing)...
But if you got your news on identity politics solely from MN, you wouldn't even know that the white supremacist identitarian movement existed. No mention, no linking to other forms of identity politics, nothing.
The omission is... odd.
Faint whiff of the dog that didn't bark.
