Boyfriend in garden ..not breaking rules?

My friend has been preaching about people breaking rules etc
Today her boyfriend (who doesn't live with her ) is in her garden.
She says it's allowed.
They are keeping the correct distance apart apparently.
I thought it was only meeting in public space ?
Aibu to think it isn't allowed ?

My neighbours are having a garden party with people from the street I’ve not see my family in 9 weeks because I’ve been sticking to the lockdown rules but apparently the rules don’t apply to my neighbours or Dominic Cummings.

Tbh I can't see any difference with sitting in your garden with the correct distance to sitting in the park with the correct distance. The virus doesn't know where you are...

I’d say a private Garden was safer as you don’t run the risk of others coming too close.

We’ve had the in laws over. Mil has dementia & fil is at the end of her tether with her in a tiny terraced house with no garden. He was having counselling for suicidal thoughts last year. I consider it essential care.

I think a garden is safer than a public place as long as social distancing is maintained and you dont go inside

Technically breaking the rules, but I think people need to apply a bit of common sense. Maybe next time she is judging others you can point out she also bent the rules to suit herself.

My bil is here this afternoon with our two nieces. They are staying at mil's empty house for the week (him and sil are in middle of splitting g so lockdown is tough on them all.) FIL died a few weeks ago during lockdown and mil has stayed with us for the duration as we are closest.

We are all sat in the garden but the two households have a 2m distance. Plenty of room to do so in our garden and no more risk than in a park, expect that the girls have used our downstairs toilet. I will clean it when they've gone.

It's as safe as it can be. Mil is early 70s and I'm in the clinically vulnerable group so we are the most at risk, but as mil and nieces haven't been aware it's fairly minimal risk.

It wouldnt bother me, no difference between garden or beach or park or street outside house.

I cannot see a problem with people sitting 2m apart in a private garden.

Some people are getting a little bit hysterical especially as less than 1% of population have been infected. A little bit of perspective is a good thing.

@onestepat Depends where you are - in NI we are allowed to meet in our gardens?

I'm vunerable and haven't been out much, my friend did pop into my garden for 5 minutes for a quick chat after collecting a prescription for me. I have a large reasonably large garden with side access which I left open.
He sat on an old plastic chair which I then sprayed when he left. I felt far safer doing this than sitting on a public bench we were at least 3 meters apart at all times.

Dd and her boyfriend have spent a lot of time in our garden. I followed my instincts

Apparently it's ok if she cares a great deal about him.

We went to PiL's garden today. It's massive, with a heated pool, loads of space to distance.

I used their spare room toilet downstairs. They don't use it at all, there's a door to it off the garden, and I wiped it with antibac wipes after I left. DS peed behind trees in the garden. I took all our food & drinks and we ate outside.

Imho, it was safer than a public place, and DS (age 3.5, who's been starting to go a bit nuts never going anywhere/doing anything) was SO happy to be allowed to go swimming.
