Have we already established that Mary can't drive?

I love the bit about him being so unwell he had to go out and drive to see if he could drive.

lyralalala · 25/05/2020 17:13

I can't believe he had to come back to London for all these meetings anyway. Surely the vast majority are being done, or should have been being done because of the spread, remotely anyway. Surely they have wi-fi at his parents house

ItHappenedOneDay · 25/05/2020 17:13

Deliberate obfuscation...On the other hand, it is strangely satisfying to watch the rising frustration as he tries to keep the details of his story straight.

JollyHostess · 25/05/2020 17:13

He is utterly convinced that he is right and everyone else is hard of understanding.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 25/05/2020 17:14

She's very good

There's more holes in his story than Swiss cheese. This reporter is making an incredibly valid point of a non-essential journey to Barnard Castle to test his eyes when the general public were being told not to drive anywhere.

Now his wife is being blamed for suggesting that he "drive down the road" to test his eyesight with his wife and child in the car. Surely if his eyesight was that bad he shouldn't have driven anywhere, let alone with his family.

No apology, no remorse. What a surprise!

Aridane · 25/05/2020 17:14

I wish they would say who the journalist are rather than just ‘Nicola’

CurtainWitcher · 25/05/2020 17:14

Really like this journalist!

Aridane · 25/05/2020 17:14

So he didn’t take medical advice before going to Durham

ShinyFootball · 25/05/2020 17:14

This is the best thing I've seen in ages.

onedayinthefuture · 25/05/2020 17:14

We have terrorists murdering people on London Bridge and at the time we had people calling out for forgiveness. I don't understand the mentality of this country.

Neolara · 25/05/2020 17:14

I think he genuinely doesn't get it. I think he genuinely believes that he made the right call because his circumstances were exceptional. The problem of course is that if everyone thought like that, lockdown wouldn't have worked. So he's just doubling down on the message it's one rule for him and another for everyone else. I suspect this is not going to play well with the country.

BrightonBB · 25/05/2020 17:14

Non essential travel does not mean a 60 mile round trip to sit by a river.
Also putting others at risk driving with dodgy eyesight.

alittleprivacy · 25/05/2020 17:14

Driving with bad eyesight! This just gets worse and worse.

Whenever my I'm not sure if I can see well enough to drive, I put my most loved small child in a car and go for a test drive. Doesn't everyone?

merrymouse · 25/05/2020 17:15

Again - he says he tested his eyesight by driving!!!!!!!!

Whatever happened to reading a number plate from a distance???????

chomalungma · 25/05/2020 17:15

Barnard Castle will be the Achilles heel

Ifartglitterybaubles · 25/05/2020 17:15

Gah! Picture didn't upload!

BroomHandledMouser · 25/05/2020 17:15

So full of absolute shit - he’s so uncomfortable and rightly so

Geepee71 · 25/05/2020 17:15

Lemony, I was wondering the same re wife being able to drive.

BoingBoingyBoing · 25/05/2020 17:15

Why is this even happening? He's not a fucking MP, he's a fucking advisor. He should never, ever have been given this airtime to start with.

merrymouse · 25/05/2020 17:15

And he didn't just drive round the corner, he drove for 30 miles?????

FizzyGreenWater · 25/05/2020 17:15

Testing his eyesight Grin

I'm bracing myself for the meme tsunami

SapatSea · 25/05/2020 17:15

Did the security services not know that he was planning to drive 250 miles? Was it okayed?

I simply don't believe he couldn't have got a CoVid test if he had wanted or that Childcare couldn't have been arranged in London for him. He is the PM's right hand not some lowly clerk!

When he started explaining how he went for drives to "test his eyesight" and "feeling sick" I felt so digusted - all the people he potentially put at risk! who drives their car under any circumstances when they are ill and "can't see?" never mind 30 miles away. BS, BS, BS.

Paramedics came out (putting them and their entire families at risk) because his kid puked and had a fever??and he picked them up from hospital next morning. Words fail.

refusetobeasheep · 25/05/2020 17:16

It's so rare that one really gets to see an arrogant narcissist having to justify his actions ... bet he so hates being challenged.
