Do you weigh daily (I read somewhere this helps people keep the weight off), or weekly, or less often? Or do you do measurements or go on clothes sizes? I'm currently weighing every 2 weeks or so. Just curious!

OP posts:

Every second day or so. Helps me keep focused and make sure the weight isn't creeping on.

WorraLiberty · 25/05/2020 13:04

Just randomly but I make sure I don't go longer than 2 weeks.

silentpool · 25/05/2020 13:05

Never. I know if I need to cut back by looking at myself in the mirror or if my clothes get tight.

RunningNinja79 · 25/05/2020 13:06

Another daily here. I always work out my weekly average on a Sunday too and think of that as my actual weight.

zingally · 25/05/2020 13:07

Rarely.
Maybe once every six months, if I think of it.

If I'm actively dieting/watching my weight, then I check once a week.

That being said, I have a history of borderline anorexia, having had 3 fairly severe episodes. Once at age about 24, and again when I was 32 (I'm 35 now). At those times I was quite obsessive about the number on the scales, and now I've learnt to read the signs in myself that getting too interested in the numbers is a danger sign.

Even thinking about this has made me curious about my current number! I better get off this thread. :)

MayFayre · 25/05/2020 13:07

Never

Oysterbabe · 25/05/2020 13:08

2 or 3 times a week. My weight has a tendancy to creep up if I'm not watching.

ChanklyBore · 25/05/2020 13:09

Never. I don’t have any scales. I know I’m a bit overweight at the moment, maybe 6-7 pounds? because I have a mirror and I have clothes and I know how I feel. So I am making sure to move more, which I will do until I realise I’ve forgotten about the idea, which means I’m back at my normal/comfortable, where I will stay mostly. I eat whatever I want to eat at the time, and I don’t know how many calories are in anything.

Colom · 25/05/2020 13:11

Few times per week. I'm very short and gain weight so, so easily I really have to keep it in check. Like a pp said, first thing in the morning, after I've been to the toilet and before I've had anything to drink/eat.

Also have daughters so the scales is tucked away in my ensuite, they've never noticed it and I never let them see me use it. My mum was obsessed with weight and it has had lasting effects (clearly!)

Thankssomuch · 25/05/2020 13:14

Never. I become a slave to the scales otherwise and get upset if I gain a pound, which isn’t healthy for me.

lesbihonest · 25/05/2020 13:15

3-4 x a day usually , I’m not sure why tbh .

lesbihonest · 25/05/2020 13:16

I’m properly fat so although I’m losing weight slowly I’m not sure leaping on the scales every time I pee is actually helping .

Megan2018 · 25/05/2020 13:17

Never! Unless medically.
No scales at home, I’m genuinely not interested.

I was weighed in pregnancy and just after by medical staff but I have no idea what I weigh now at 8 months pp.

Am a consistent size 12 and am back in pre-pg clothes so that’s good enough.

recycledbottle · 25/05/2020 13:18

Weekly. I tend to eat less Mon to Thur than I do Fri to Sun so rather than see the up and down, I check it every Wednesday.

Sundaygirlz · 25/05/2020 13:27

Daily. Team RH here too @Sally872 🙌

megletthesecond · 25/05/2020 13:32

Once a month, if that. But I've sat at the same weight for 20 years (barring illness).
If my clothes feel tight I check my weight and adjust my food and activity level a little.

Bobbiepin · 25/05/2020 13:37

About 2-3 times a week. I'm trying to lose weight and although I'm not seeing a change it keeps me on track. I won't weigh myself when DD can see, but as she grows older I will but more importantly I will teach her that the number on the scale does not measure my self worth.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 25/05/2020 13:39

Yanbu to ask. What's unreasonable about asking a simple question?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 25/05/2020 13:40

No weekly

BissueTox · 25/05/2020 13:42

Weekly. Sometimes wish I didn't look at the numbers though Grin

skinnyhotchoc · 25/05/2020 13:44

Every day. I have to keep an eye on it

flowertoday · 25/05/2020 13:44

Never. Toddler broke the scales years ago. My oldest daughter is a teenager now and I don't want her to equate happiness with a number on a scale.
I just go on how I feel, and how clothes fit.

snowybean · 25/05/2020 13:45

Daily, and I record the results in a spreadsheet. It's really motivating to consistently lose weight, even if I am doing it really slowly. Lost 5lb since the beginning of April. I really want this weight to stay off so I'm fine with this plan

lubeybooby · 25/05/2020 13:48

I weigh in monthly - actively losing weight and have been for a long time with a way to go still.

I get a lot of fluctuations week to week, sodium, ovulation, period etc all cause weirdness, so going monthly smooths out the peaks and troughs and I get a clearer picture, without negatively affecting my mental health by seeing a 'gain' that isn't really, actually a gain.

lubeybooby · 25/05/2020 13:49

I do body measurements about every three months ish too
