Sleep training hell

Started with the ferber method last night. Son is 19 months old and in my room. Great. He fell asleep in 25 mins. That was a nice surprise and unexpected. Slept for an hour then woke up. Then proceeded to wake up every hour. I ended up bringing him in bed with me at 3:30 because I thought I was going to vomit due to being so tired. He doesn't usually wake up more than once when co sleeping. I am exhausted now. Can anyone help?

You can't carry on co sleeping. You need to put him in this bed, if he wakes up fo into settle him and leave. Keep doing it every time he wakes up. Eventually he will stop crying when he he wakes up and will learn to self settle.

If you cant face it now, keep in your bed for a couple more nights, get some rest then draw the line and try again

He won't get used to his bed if you waver. It is hard though.

Unfortunately this is the way with sleep training. They never "get it" the first night and it's generally accepted that there will be a few nights of hell before it may start to work. If you're not up for that yet then maybe keep doing what you're doing for now and try again in a little while. However, I still wouldnt expect him to happily sleep well on the first night.

I had to take him in my bed last night. I was so exhausted that I thought I was going to be sick and I was shaking. I'm going to nap with him today and try again. It wasn't the crying that bothered me. I just couldn't stay awake any longer.
