AIBU to say Friday Night Dinner just isn't funny?

Everyone else in my house thinks Friday Night Dinner is utterly hilarious and roll around on the floor laughing when it's on. I just find it so predictable and dull, Jim the neighbour is so ridiculously unbelievable and I have not found one thing to make me laugh yet. And I've sat on my laptop on the sofa while they've binged-watched practically every episode. Again and again. So AIBU or, as they tell me, do I just not have a sense of humour? :)

It's very hit and miss, but when it hits, it hits big!

The first time we meet Mr Morris and the Christmas episodes are brilliant.

Jim has been overused (Flanderised) but Mark Heap is a comic genius.

Guttersnipe · 24/05/2020 23:25

Love Martin. Hate Jim. Find the way the boys are constantly pranking each other tedious. Some episodes better than others but the dad is the best thing in it.

Midsommar · 24/05/2020 23:26

I thought it was a bag of shit at first but gave it another go and it is really funny.
Only problem for me is that Simon Bird is now completely typecast so I'll just see him as Will "Briefcase Wanker" from the Inbetweeners whenever I see him in anything else!

Guttersnipe · 24/05/2020 23:27

The episode with the fox in the freezer was my favourite ever.

Agree Grin

We like most & love some. Particularly the one where Wilson has shagged another dog and Jim excuses him by saying ‘Well, he HAS been drinking’ 🤣🤣🤣

vanillandhoney · 24/05/2020 23:27

Martin is definitely the best character on there.

I BURNT MY SHITTING NIPPLE!

Sparklfairy · 24/05/2020 23:27

Jim is NOT unrealistic.

I have a neighbour who is a Jim.

Willowmartha1 · 24/05/2020 23:30

I love it as it reminds me of things that used to happen in my family growing up!

WinterAndRoughWeather · 24/05/2020 23:30

First series was excellent, then it jumped bigger and bigger sharks after that. I find it unwatchable now.

pigsDOfly · 24/05/2020 23:36

I'm with you OP.

Although, having said that I haven't attempted to watch it since I tried to watch the first couple of episodes of the first series and thought it was the biggest pile of puerile rubbish I'd ever seen.

Unless, of course, it's somehow miraculously, massively improved since then.

Lifeasweknow · 24/05/2020 23:37

YABVU and Jim is the best part.

Hello Jackie

NightScentedStocks · 24/05/2020 23:38

We got into it after watching the Return of Mr Morris episode and finding it hilarious.

RyanBergarasTeeth · 24/05/2020 23:39

StewPots · 24/05/2020 23:46

The fox episode 🤣🤣🤣

Females. Shit on it. Hello Jackie. Pissface. Just so many highlights... the latest series wasn't as strong I'll admit but still had more than a few laugh out loud moments for me.

RyanBergarasTeeth · 24/05/2020 23:46

"i might have got confused". Said whilst sat in his neighbours bath tub Grin

SinisterBumFacedCat · 24/05/2020 23:57

"oh bobble"

Happymum12345 · 25/05/2020 00:02

Belly laughs from everyone in our house! Some episodes are funnier than others, but they all make us laugh.

BackforGood · 25/05/2020 00:02

Jim does spoil it.
The 'Mum, Dad, two grown up sons round for compulsory dinner' scenario is excellent. Well cast and well written, but the ridiculous neighbour just pushes it out of reality.

HollyGoLoudly1 · 25/05/2020 00:02

I love it but really wish Jim wasn't in it Hmm
