Do you do price comparison for car insurance?

Mine was due renewal 3rd of June. I don't have breakdown cover. I've done a price comparison and saved £139 plus have breakdown cover included.

I've just let it renew for years.

Yes I did this time. Last year I didnt get round to it for one reason and another. This year I did and saves about £100!
The thing which made me do it was my renewal notice saying "your premium for last year was X", "your premium for this year is Y" and it had gone up! Even though I'm a year more experienced , a year more no claims and my car is a year older so worth less.

Of course I check every year! I'd never just assume their deal is the best!!! Same as I check my electricity annually incase I can get a better deal.

We have comprehensive car insurance, as it ended up costing less than just fire/theft, so check the difference before buying.

I know I feel such a numpty. Blush

Dh has just changed utility provider that's what prompted me to check.

Yup! Without fail. This year saved £400.

Every year without fail.

Why wouldn't you?! I switch car, travel & house insurance providers pretty much every year as well as utilities. I always save money compared to the renewal quote.

incognitomum · 24/05/2020 19:32

You saved £400! Mine was £240.

I do it every year or two, usually comes in with a few quid, sometimes lots.

Every year, save £100s

I bought my car last March after a lengthy break from driving so I did a comparison and bought a reasonably priced policy.

When my renewal was coming up I ran another comparison and the policy I already had came up for £700 for the year - one of the cheapest on the site. I got my renewal quote through a couple of weeks later and it was £1050! I phoned them, told them what I’d found on the comparison site and, after being put on hold for all of three minutes, they miraculously offered me the renewal for £700.

I’ll never let it automatically renew after that.
