I have Name Changed for this.

I am 24 years old and over lockdown have had the time to reflect. I want to make big changes to my life. I am hoping some advice from others can help me choose the right path so thank you in advance for your time to respond.

What advice would you give to your 24 year old self regarding finances, friends, family, career, travel, and anything else?

You gotta live for the now. Don't settle for the jackass. You can make it on your own

Quit that dead end job and go travelling!
Have more confidence in yourself.
Ditch the waste of time bf.
Date more.
Don't dwell on hurtful comments.

Oh God i'd tell myself to grow up. 24 is an adult not a time for partying and travelling I'd be doing it a few years by then anyway.
Save at least 25% of your earnings, who cares if you miss a few nights out.
Might as well enjoy a few cosy nights at home you'll love them soon.
Remember most people are only on your life a short time, put yourself first.
Education you can't have enough of it.
Think of where you want to be in 20 years. That is when your choices will catch up on you good or bad.

At 24 I was working multiple jobs & saving hard for property deposit & I paid into company pension. I had a huge amount of energy & enthusiasm for everything

Work hard, play harder !

Keep in touch with family & friends

Do the things that you enjoy

As you get older, you will have less energy & life gets a bit slower

A pension in your 20s seems like a long way away

However, no pension in your 50s, 60s is not good

If you have spare money pay in to a pension
If you are an employee, your employer should add money into your pension pot for FREE !

Sleep with lots of random men. Don't worry about doing this as you will need to wait another ten years before Mr Right comes along!

Save as much as possible so that the deposit for the first house is bigger and you can afford a better place rather than wasting money on taxes and legal fees by buying and selling various times before getting the ideal house.
