Period problems

Hi, any advice from those who've been through similar? I've always been regular 28 day menstrual cycle. Period lasts for 4 days, quite light. All good.
The past couple of years they've started to become irregular, getting closer in length, so could be a 20 day cycle, then a 22 day. Then a 29 day.
I always had predictable symptoms and knew when I was about to come on. Now done months I have zero symptoms and other months i have intense symptoms and really bad pmt.
My flow is no heavy, not a trickle, big gushes. I have to put towels on the furniture.
Anyway, I went to see the gp and I had an ultrasound. All normal. Referred me to gynaecologist. I was told they would try to push the coil on me as first option. After that I don't know.
My problem is I have a very large issue with seeing a male gynaecologist and I decided to cancel the appointment. (last year). The problem is still here. I really really don't want to see a male. It makes me ill thinking about it.
Has anyone been through similar who can tell me what options you were given or what worked /didn't work for you. Tbh I wish I could just have a hysterectomy. I hate having periods. I'm only 35. 2 kids.
