To think it really doesn't matter what the rules are now?

No-one's going to follow them.

I am a real rule follower. I've done everything by the book since day one and despite all the hysteria about people breaking rules, so has almost everyone I know.

But when the man who effectively runs the country and wrote the rules makes it clear they don't matter I feel like something of a mug for having been so "good".

I haven't seen my parents or been anywhere outside my town in weeks but he was fine with travelling all that distance with symptoms to see his.

AIBU to think whatever the next/current phase rules are it will be very difficult to get the public to comply?

I think if Cummings was on fire he’d remain entirely piss free

Even at the seaside? 😉

SabrinaThwaite · 23/05/2020 15:52

Even at the seaside with the public loos locked Smile

Alsohuman · 23/05/2020 15:53

😂

bumblingbovine49 · 23/05/2020 18:50

Cummings might technically not have broken the regulations actually if he was going to check up on and look after his parents as you are allowed journeys for that.

Don't be so bloody ridiculous. Cummings and his wife knew they had covid, they were symptomatic and I'd hazard a good guess they had tests confirming this. Only a psychopath would knowingly visit parents to ' take care of them' if they know they have covid. Oh wait it is Cummings so that makes sense now....

Cantata · 23/05/2020 18:55

Bugger the lot of them, I'm going to do what I want from now on, they can stuff the lockdown, I've been stuck in a room for 2 months

Don't say people are coming to their senses?

Aridane · 23/05/2020 19:55

Surely the people who make the rules have to be like Caesar's wife and beyond reproach? It is not just 'his business'.

Exactly

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 23/05/2020 20:00

And apparently he went on a day trip When he was in Durham as well...so thats nice

Roussette · 23/05/2020 20:03

Technically he did. I won't link again to what BoJo said in his own words about not using GPs to look after DCs. At the time ... I think people forget when this was ... 31st March, when we were climbing a horrendous peak and the message was STAY AT HOME.. this entitled twat went against everything he was the architect of in the SAGE meetings.

I am incensed about this.

Roussette · 23/05/2020 20:04

AND his wife's family lives in London. Why not ask for help from them?

Jane67996 · 23/05/2020 20:06

Why should he care?
He knows the fatality rate is low and he chose to take the risk.
You can use your reason to make the same choice, but you chose to listen to these idiots and stay locked up for some reason that has zero scientific merit behind it while the economy and society crash and burn.
He's not stupid, you're stupid!

Comingoutontop123 · 23/05/2020 20:18

Does everyone here think that Goverment guidelines can only be given by those that adhere to them?

They're guidelines given on a population level.

Many HCPs for instance smoke, don't exercise, drink more than 14 units a week, don't eat 5 a day and or/are overweight (the only one that patients could objectively be aware of).

They give guidance, that's all. As directed by government guidelines and dictacted by their employers.

SabrinaThwaite · 23/05/2020 20:19

Oh it’s better than that Rufus - he was in London on April 14th and then spotted back in Durham in April 19th.

merrymouse · 23/05/2020 20:21

Yes, when we are in the middle of a pandemic and legislation has been enacted so that they can be enforced by the police.

Oh good lord

What a twat

jasjas1973 · 23/05/2020 20:27

No, they are not, they are law and the Police have issued 1000s of fixed penalties, backed by unlimited fines if the offender is a repeater.

I don't believe that happens if i miss one of my 5 a day!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 23/05/2020 20:30

Im a bit bored of the recent

‘Obviously people don’t follow the rules..you are stupid if you do’ type posts

Its not big and its not clever...everyone is well aware that politicians and law makers are very much ‘do as i say, not as i do’ its not fucking rocket science

You’re not a genius

SabrinaThwaite · 23/05/2020 20:36

I’m looking forward to all the senior Tories that have been backing up Cummings today - Gove, Raab, Sunak, Braverman, Rees-Mogg - explaining away those multiple visits to Durham to us little people.

He's not stupid, you're stupid!

If we all did what we wanted, we would be in the same place as Brazil or Italy. Don't be so ridiculous. It's bad enough as it is

I agree with you, in that I have ignored the blanket fear-and-trembling decrees, and have carried on going out, seeing my non-resident partner, etc, etc, etc. As I said upthread, I would have done the same as DC. However, I am a private individual who can do whatever they like. DC is representing the government and therefore can't do this. If I'd been in his position, I would have acted very differently from the way I can act as an anonymous individual.

Roussette · 23/05/2020 21:48

Exactly.
Surely you lead by example?
If you can't do that, resign as the PM's chief adviser.

FWIW Durham Police have hit back at the allegation he or his family weren't contacted in Durham. They were.

Time2change2 · 23/05/2020 21:58

Cynicism bubbles over within me once again I’m afraid. Why has this come out now? Coincidence that they want people back at work and school. It’s all orchestrated! Please people see through the media!

Samtsirch · 23/05/2020 22:00

@SabrinaThwaite
That’s the only thing that’s managed to make me laugh out loud ,on a very difficult day.
😆😆😆

Samtsirch · 23/05/2020 22:05

@SabrinaThwaite
I was referring to the piss comment, but having now read the Classic Dom Tour comment I am laughing even more 🤣
We should all get Classic Dom Tour T-shirts printed !

SabrinaThwaite · 23/05/2020 22:05
