She’s a foul human being in general and yes, she’s a rotten public speaker. Maybe BJ has being given her lessons in how to be shit at it?

I don’t like her but please don’t make fun of her accent. She comes from Essex where dropping ‘g’s is very normal. She actually sounds as though she’s putting on her best ‘telephone voice’ but the ‘g’ thing is too ingrained to be able to drop it.

It’s the content of her speeches I have an issue with not her local accent.

If she can't enunciate properly and the government want to have her in the public eye someone should have been working with her to address the sloppiness of her speech.

As for her total lack of empathy and her rudeness - perhaps they're harder nuts to crack.

Her tone is clipped and her pronunciation is exceptionally clear which makes her dropping of letter g all the more noticeable.

I could sha'er glarss am familiar with Estuary accents and I can't imagine anyone altering their vowels before altering their Gs. Typically people shifting from Estuary towards RP will add the dropped consonants back first – these are written on the page and it's easy to be aware of whether one is omitting or pronouncing them.

Altering vowels is a further step.

Changing her vowels but continuing to drop the G sounds like an affectation.

ok don't shoot me down. But I actually thought her press conference today was concise, to the point and above all NOT vague. Yes she is harsh and can be condscending but she tells us what we need to know without any beating round the bush!! So many of the other press conferences have been so vague.

That's why she's on on Friday afternoon - straight after Steve Wright's 'Serious Jockin' no g with DJ Silly boi' - she makes about as much sense.

Dropping 'g' is a London/Essex thing (not for everybody, of course!). Priti Patel was born in London and attended university in Essex.

Those dropped gs set my teeth on edge. Actually everything about her does - the arrogance, rudeness, condescension - the entire package. At least she didn’t trot out a completely nonsensical series of numbers this time.
