To ask your opinion on this Netherlands Court ruling

Evidently Netherland's Courts are taking children 'a privacy seriously. They have ordered a Grandmother to remove pics of her grandchildren from Social Media and if she doesn't it's a 50 Euro fine a day and if she posts anymore another fine of 50 Euros a day

I totally agree. You shouldn't be able to put photos of anyone other than yourself on social media.

Even parents putting photos of their own children online is a bit strange. I know everybody does it, but maybe that child doesn’t want their own picture online. What will they think when they grow up?

True but there are loads of parents in this situation and not many court cases.

@snuggbuggy perhaps there should be? What about a child's human right to privacy? Or does that not count if it's a relative violating that right?

@SnuggyBuggy but at least courts are on the parents sides. Parents have the option to use courts to protect their kids privacy

Shouldn't put peoples pictures online without their permission? Someone had better tell the numerous news and sports companies then.

I think grandparents need to ask permission first.

It's not the sharing of photos as such that is a problem, that's no worse than showing nana the family photo album. It's the posting them on social media, for all and sundry to see, akin to putting them up on a community notice board years ago. It's gross.

It's interesting from a legal standpoint
I think children now will be potentialy unhappy in 20 years when they see all their photos all over the internet.

Grandmother should have respected mums wish to not post any pictures of her DC and the fact that she had to be ordered by a judge to remove them tells me that she is likely a very stubborn person with a lack of respect for the fact that not her, but the parents take decisions about the children.

Don't get me wrong I think grandparents doing this are out of order. I don't get how you can be a good loving grandparent and have no respect for the parents of said grandchild

The case was taken after repeated requests by the mother to the grandmother to take the pictures down. She refused to take them down so the mother went to the Court. I would suggest Christmas dinner at their place will be a bit awkward this year
You've got to agree with the Court, though.
