Invited to a 5 year olds birthday party

We’ve been invited to a 5 year olds ‘low key” birthday party at their family home. I’m not sure how many people they’ve invited, I get the impression it may only be a few family members BUT I have declined, still bought a card and present and will drop those off, but they can’t understand why I’ve declined.

Are we the only family who realise we are still not meant to be socialising with friends?

Yes you are, the rest of us are out having a rare old time every single day.

I would have accepted

Don’t listen to them. Some people are still following the rules.

Wowsers. My son is 5 on Tuesday. His birthday party is cancelled. The best we can hope for is a picnic in the park with some socially distanced “visits” from grandparents and possibly some friends, but not at the same time. Even that is definitely bending the rules a bit.

How ridiculous. There's always someone who thinks it's ok to break the rules just for a birthday party/BBQ/family get-together. Doesn't matter how many people are going - they should not be inviting ANYONE from outside their home. Tossers.
