So sad for the lack of innovation in uk regarding schools reopening

Watching newsnight about schools reopening. So sad to see the contrast to the approach here in the uk and how they’ve dealt with this abroad. We need to start thinking about the impact of all this on children and drop all this crap about home learning for the next year.

Except there is now evidence that the R number is being driven by care home cases. Not the community so much. There is also great debate about accuracy of any R figures. So 1 may well be not a reflection of what’s really happening in any given area

Care home workers for the most part, are still living, travelling and shopping in the wider community. They can be infected at work and carry it outside. Some areas have a bigger concerntration of care home than others (lots of old people in seaside areas following retirement, for example). With track and trace and knoweldge of how a virus is spreading in a particular area, it should be possible to temporarily impose stronger measures over a a defined area to help reduce the R rate there which in turn will stop one area infecting other areas. It's really not rocket science.

And as for the 'who decided it was 1' comment, words fail me.

Obviously they didn’t fail you.

I am a lecturer, use very innovative strategies on a learning management system (online learning) and instructional design principles. I can’t tell how long it’s taken me to be confident and trained enough to be able to do this successfully. I can’t believe that the vast majority of the UK public think that teachers can just pivot to online learning in a blink of an eye. It takes hours and hours just to prep for one session.

I think you will find they do crispy... Most haven't done anything remotely like it themselves, I guess.
