Neighbours kids having friends over

Two teenage girls have just turned up to my neighbours house. The parents are out at work as essential workers and they have three kids: two teenagers and one in primary school. They were knocking on for a while, as well as trying the door to try and loosen the key (our windows are open so could hear them talk). They must have been there for about 15 minutes before one of the daughters opened the door and let them in.

I have the mum on FB, would I be unreasonable to message her to let her know?

Fucking hell - so what! Obviously they shouldn’t be doing it / but it’s not really any of your business and don’t get why you care! Our neighbours have people over all the time - annoying, yes! But I don’t care - if they give their granny Covid because they All couldn’t cope without having a bbq together then that’s their problem really and granny’s fault for coming round when she should be at home in isolation!

I couldn’t care less What other people do - husband and I stay in and are safe that’s all I care about tbh

Kapten did you miss the part where the parents are key workers? Bully for you that you can stay home and safe, they can't and their teenagers are letting people in the house when they're at work

I would - sounds like the daughter has been pressured in to letting them in, so I'd let the parents know out of concern for their kids.

If they kept knocking, obviously the kids didn’t want them coming in. Tell the mum.

Agree with those who think the neighbours kids ignored their friends for as long as they could (trying to do the right thing and follow the rules) but caved into pressure.

If you contacted the parents, they could phone home and the teenagers might be relieved to have a reason to have to chuck their friends out.

I wouldn’t. The mum is probably already aware and you’ll come across as a nosy busybody.

I would say something. The parents may not be aware. If they are working outside the house they are more of a risk for passing it on so the knock on effect could be huge for spreading it. I personally would want to know.

I would, sounds like they were pressured into it.

If the parent had been there I wouldn't but I'd tell them in this instance

I know key workers (emergency service) who are flouting guidelines.

Last night witnessed a group of 3 teenage girls on the park, a car of 4 other girls pulled up and joined them so not from the same household and they started taking Nitrous Oxide. Idiots.

Teenagers do not care and honestly I hope they get what’s coming to them. Maybe then they will learn. Report and report every time. People who call you snitches have the mentality of a 5 year old.

I agree with kapten. I see during whole lock down, from the beginning, even the peak people are visiting friends and families as usual. We just stick with the rule.

What kind of key worker are they?
Work on a covid 19 ward or a&e?
Work in an NHS office?
Are a locksmith?

Update: So I messaged the mum to tell her and she thanked me straight away, 10 minutes later the dad came home then the mum, and now more of their family have come round. They’re now in the garden drinking and playing music loudly, so I don’t know what to do. They’re obviously ignoring the rules but I’ll still be the unreasonable one for calling them out

Sounds like the whole family are idiots. What a shame. When I started reading your updates, I thought that the mum was going to thank you, come home and then chuck out the visiting teenagers.

The trouble is, if you do report it to the police, the mum would now be pretty sure that it was you which could cause problems the future.

If they choose to come back and join in the stupidity that's on them, if I'd been at work and my DC were letting friends in the house I'd hope a neighbour would tell me

You dob the kids in, parents come rushing home, for what I though would be a kid bollocking session, but no party time............. You couldnt make it up. Love it
