It's in the title really. My 11 year old daughter wants to give up ballet. She's been doing it since she was three and was in a pre-pro kind of programme - 6 hours a week. Thing is she was really good at it but she never connected with the teacher and from the sounds of it the teacher kind of picked on her a bit. That aside she's entering tween years and wants to try gymnastics and singing and also carry on the street dance classes etc she does for pleasure. She's not very academic so I was always keen on her keeping more creative options open - it feels like another door closed on her future options.
Not going to force her of course and I've told her that, so all good between on us on that level - knowing what she does and doesn't want to do is part of building independence and finding out who she is but it secretly does make me a bit sad as she was good at it.
Anyone else been through the same transition - any advice?
