DH is home atm (normally works away).

I am mainly WFH 8:30 -16:30 and doing out doing visits as and when is have to (for work).

I normally do dinner (mainly because his cooking isn’t great tbh).

He’s getting up at 12/13:00 every day and has for the last few days done absolutely fuck all, which isn’t really annoying me that much.

I finished working (at 5:00) and he decides to go shopping (after I asked him to earlier and he said he was going tomoz for our neighbour anyway).

I ask him if could pick up some wine.

He comes back and I am watching the TV, he hasn’t got any wine and he’s hassling me to help him unpack the shopping (and has brought loads of shit we don’t need and don’t have room to store).

I am like I am watching TV and then I will cook dinner, am pretty sure you can manage to unpack the shopping yourself.

He has a huge strop and storms off.

Thank you

Go out buy wine.

Finfintytint · 20/05/2020 18:22

What are his redeeming features. Why is he lazing around in bed?

PlasticFlowers · 20/05/2020 18:24

He came back with wine.

Tell him you will unpack if he go out and get you some wine!

IncrediblySadToo · 20/05/2020 18:26

When is he off to work again? Couldn't be soon enough for me if he's going to be like that.

He's doing fuck all, I'm sure diddums can unpack the shopping.

Are you ok for money? (Is buying crap you don't need much of an issue?)

Why no wine? Send him
Back out!!

Crimsonnightlotus · 20/05/2020 18:26

Oops, cross posted.

pilates · 20/05/2020 18:27

Why is he getting up at 12/1?

PlasticFlowers · 20/05/2020 19:08

Because he’s got nothing to do ...

Who is doing all the housework? Any DC?

PlasticFlowers · 20/05/2020 19:38

We both do it - sort of.

He is really anal about it but moans no one else does it (we do but not up to his standards) - we have 6 but only o e left at home.

YANBU - However, it sounds to me like he's probably struggling with lockdown. He's oversleeping, unproductive and is probably feeling like a failure (because he's not contributing professionally). Often, this spirals and he'll end up not helping out at home because he feels like he's not able to do anything - I suppose that's why he asked for your help with something he could have easily done by himself. Try to be extra patient with him if you can - people are very rarely useless or lazy on purpose, especially if they're usually productive members of society. Try to give him some structure to his day if possible and compliment him and boost his confidence. Make sure he knows that you appreciate things that he does and that he's doing them well - then he'll rebuild the confidence that he's lost from not working and stop being so useless.

PlasticFlowers · 20/05/2020 19:45

He’s loving lockdown, his whole life has been geared towards this moment (he’s a submariner Grin )

"we do but not up to his standards"
That's a great excuse to let him do it all. I don't unpack things or wash the dishes or put them away. He said I do it wrong, so I don't do it anymore.

Notthetoothfairy · 20/05/2020 20:00

You’re working FT while he does sweet FA and gets up at lunchtime. He should be doing AND putting away the shopping, making dinner and doing the cleaning. If he says he doesn’t have time, set the alarm for 7am for him.

PlasticFlowers · 21/05/2020 00:15

He was expecting us to take it in turns to make drinks all night and I was but jokingly trying to get out of it and he said “you should get your son to do it as he’s already black”. He’s mixed race and I am sat in our bedroom in shock and in floods of tears Sad

@PlasticFlowers

Well, at first I typed, "Thank goodness he came to his senses and bought wine".
Then I saw *you should get your son to do it as he’s already black” Shock
Sounds like a winner.

CovidicusRex · 21/05/2020 03:46

Bloody hell. I’m sure it’s all fine while he’s away under the ocean but he sounds unbearable. Is there anywhere he can go so you don’t have to look at him?

longtimecomin · 21/05/2020 04:51

That racism is awful, I hope he's never said anything to your sons face? Or any other family members? Is he inferring black people should be servants? Honestly he is awful, you need to have a good long think about whether you love this man and what he represents.

timeisnotaline · 21/05/2020 05:16

Well that’s a pretty telling statement.

Tell him you will unpack if he go out and get you some wine!. What is this? Do his one job of shopping when he bought heaps of stuff the op doesn’t need so that he can go back to buy the single item she asked for and he didn’t get? He sounds as useful as a chocolate teapot and a lot more annoying.

pilates · 21/05/2020 07:00

That is a shocking thing to say and a deal breaker for me. He needs to go.

HotCrossBungle · 21/05/2020 07:08

WTAF? I have no idea at at what that comment was made in reference to - making drinks/putting the shopping away? - but that is entirely beside the point. Dreadful.

STAYTHEFUCKHOME · 21/05/2020 07:16

Well that’s quite a turn.

CodenameVillanelle · 21/05/2020 07:21

Umm what?
Is he his step father? How long have you been married to this dick head?

CandyLeBonBon · 21/05/2020 07:24
