Let me guess aloethere flogs Forever Living... Hmm

Heidihoo · 19/05/2020 05:23

Saving a fair bit and will have reached our stretching goal for this year, by next month. This was done by not spending on commuting, travel/holidays, non essential fripperies.

Having the time and inclination to try new recipes to expand our meal rotation, it's been great!

DM has been forced to get up to speed on tech so we can Zoom. I've been trying for years! (I live abroad)

Ticklemelmo · 19/05/2020 05:32

Had my baby 2 weeks before lockdown and my DP has been off work since so has spent much more time supporting me and spending time with his daughter.
Plus not getting bombarded by visitors in the early days, I miss my family and dying to see them now, but I am so happy for the space Grin

Also managed to get house tasks done such as organising, decorating and gardening.

AgentJohnson · 19/05/2020 05:52

Hanging out with DD without the pressure of either of us having to be anywhere.

Saved a ton of money.

Time do those little but time consuming DIY jobs.

Eating better.

I still work my usual hours but 90% from home. I’m lucky I just go to the office if DD and I need a break from each other.

ABCrafty · 19/05/2020 06:02

Time with family, long chats with those I can't see (which I never found time for), saved lots of money - and being as my son is 21 in July, 3 of my best mates are 50, my cousin is 50 and I am 50 all before mid August and I will be a first-time grandma in 7 weeks time.......... I have made some beautiful cards, upcycled lots of furniture, crocheted amigurumi toys for Christmas presents , made baby clothes and blankets - I've treat myself to some wonderful beauty products and I love my front garden, I can watch people walking dogs and kiddies on their family walks - so I've put pretty bunting up and bought lovely plants from small, local businesses., I make sure I remember my neighbours birthdays and we all join in with a sing song....... I will do everything I can to ensure that I keep doing these things as we continue to 'relax' covid restrictions! We can take some wonderful lessons from a very difficult time!.... and, yes, I do have some really low days - but then I pick up a mug of coffee and a paintbrush .......

Belledan1 · 19/05/2020 06:03

Luckily I can wfh but loving having time to do washing and basic surface housework in week ie save on travel. Nice early bath then watch tv or read on evening. Enjoying cooking without planning for week. Mowing lawn in lunch hour. No rushing about. Can do big jobs weekend then and chill a bit more and do exercise.

leasedaudi · 19/05/2020 06:15

@Aloethere do you mean 500% of £0? Because usually people lose money in MLM but lie about becoming millionaires

Norma27 · 19/05/2020 06:16

@aloethere is definitely involved in a pointy shape pyramid scheme with that name giving it away.
No doubt hoping to get some victims to dm them to lure them into the scam.

AlternativePerspective · 19/05/2020 06:16

Lots of time spent outside in my garden because of the lovely weather.

Not spending as much so was able to pay off my credit card.

Vacuous TV shows like Love Island getting cancelled. amen to that.perhaps they’ll realise that these shows are all shite and cancel them permanently because people will have changed their perspectives and will no longer want to watch them .

I am separated from my partner and my family and don’t anticipate seeing either for the foreseeable future as Imclinically vulnerable, but given I was in ICU this time last year I am forever grateful that I and everyone else I care about is currently healthy.

Norma27 · 19/05/2020 06:18

@leasedaudi so true.
I've had a million percent increase in sales in my bizniz this month. Shame that just like Aloethere I don't have a business or any actual sales!

leasedaudi · 19/05/2020 06:25

@Norma27 😂

AvalancheKit · 19/05/2020 06:25

I have noticed more clouds and very real actual silver linings.

TheAlphaandtheOmega · 19/05/2020 06:32

DH has finished renovating the outbuilding in the garden which in normal times would have taken months if not years to complete. Just got to go and queue for the tip now...

GnomeDePlume · 19/05/2020 06:40

Saved a fortune on my commute. Normally costs £60/week.

Spent far more time on the allotment and garden than normal for this time of year.

Really got to know my soon to be (when the wedding finally goes ahead) Son in Law as he is staying with us for the duration. He is really lovely.

Really proud of DS & DD2 for going out and getting jobs. DS especially as he is normally a prevaricator but has discovered the joy of earning money and being able to save for the things he wants.

Really proud of DD1 for the work she does (research scientist).

Always proud of DH for the way he is managing to keep a household of six adults fed, clean and tidy with no drama.

The dog is fitter with more long walks.

FrenchyQ · 19/05/2020 06:45

My exams have been changed to open book ones which I have 24 hours to do... I'm terrible at normal exams, so I might actually pass my modules this year!

okiedokieme · 19/05/2020 07:08

I get to live with dp, normally we are are over 100 miles apart due to work. Desperately looking for a new job!

Oysterbabe · 19/05/2020 07:19

We've saved money.
The kids have become the best of friends.
My company are considering letting us work from home sometimes even when all this is over, they were previously very against it.

user1465335180 · 19/05/2020 07:32

DP and I eat more healthily with more time to cook from scratch and the garden is looking good. Lots of chance to see the baby birds fledging is lovely.

firstimemamma · 19/05/2020 07:38

Discovered a beautiful new walking route and park. Never knew it was on my doorstep all this time!

Sparklehead · 19/05/2020 07:39

My 3 DC remembering that they can get along with each other, have fun and play together.
Also, due to the nature of our jobs, DH has had to become the primary caregiver for the first time really, as I started work full-time as an AHP in a hospital just before Covid hit and so am out of the house most days whereas he can WFH which means he also has to do the childcare. He’s always been a good hands-on dad, but always worked full-time whereas I’ve had maternity leave and then part-time jobs so I could be with the children more. It’s been a strange role reversal, but I think there have been positives about it, not least for the children to see that it’s not always the mum that should sacrifice work for their children.

Sparklehead · 19/05/2020 07:40

Oh, and learning you can make pasta from just flour, water and a rolling pin, and it actually tastes quite good!

lljkk · 19/05/2020 07:41

Recently we spotted some wind turbines. Some east, some southwest.
On walks we have done very often in recent years, but never noticed those turbines before.

I dug out a map to figure out where the turbines are. They are both 23 km away!!
Seeing them is due to the amazingly clear air, improved air quality. Wow.

Maisieme · 19/05/2020 07:47

My ME is improving as I’m not exhausting myself going out. My weight is improving as I’ve now had the kick up the backside to lose weight as being overweight is risky in Covid.

nevernotstruggling · 19/05/2020 07:48

Reality shows being cancelled.

I was forced to get my ducks in a row and meal plan and bulk buy dog food.

My house is very clean and tidy.

Dp isn't constantly working as he's a house parent so he's here at weekends now. Dd2 is rapturous.

We have tried to reduce screen time and bought and enjoyed board games regularly.

Kids are doing more gardening and cooking.

I've saved hundreds in fuel, childcare, activity costs. I've banked about £2k now so I can't start the saving for new house costs account which has made me really happy.

Dd2 isn't crying at school drop off because I can now pick her up every day.

The dog has never been so happy we are always home!!!

We have discovered a wilderness around the corner with a pond full of tadpoles and newts. Kids love it!

Blacksideupanddownagain · 19/05/2020 07:59

Walking every day. Since having children I became very sedentary, office job, driving commute, excuse of feeling too knackered to do anything once the kids are in bed etc. Now I walk 2 miles a day as I have the time working from home. I can see the habit sticking
