An end to (previously) never ending nits re-infestation. What are yours?

OP posts:
DamnYankee · 18/05/2020 22:48

No lice outbreaks!
Less $$ spent.
Long walks and chats with 11 y.o. DD
No mad end-of-year school rush, packed with too many activities
And - this is grim - but we live in CO, US. Remember the Columbine HS shootings? Every year in April there are either threats of a school shooting or an actual school shooting by mad idiots.
No school? No targets. No shooting victims.

DamnYankee · 18/05/2020 22:50

@cariaaad

Now that is good news! Congratulations

UnderperformingSeal · 18/05/2020 22:51

Vacuous TV shows like Love Island getting cancelled.

hippoherostandinghere · 18/05/2020 22:52

Wow Cariaad amazing news!

SilverLiningSearching · 18/05/2020 22:58

My DS has ASD and was in knots over SATS exams , his relief when they were cancelled was a joy to behold.

Oct18mummy · 18/05/2020 23:00

Feel it’s made our family and relationship grow stronger plus with wfh I’ve managed to see much more of my little boy and his development I would have missed out on if he was at nursery

Summerof699 · 18/05/2020 23:04

It has been good to spend less time commuting, rushing around, always either working or picking up kids. Now I spend more time with my kids and less time stressed.

cariaaad · 18/05/2020 23:09

@DamnYankee @hippoherostandinghere thanks. Really early days but we're keeping everything crossed. The last few months have been an emotional rollercoaster!

OhioOhioOhio · 18/05/2020 23:20

Alothere

What do you sell?

janetmendoza · 18/05/2020 23:47

No commute, ds and his girlfriend isolating with us, learning how to deliver the service I offer (workwise) remotely which I will keep doing longterm, cleared out the attic, a perfect garden, my mental health is super. Most of the things I found stressful, I can no longer do and it is such a relief! I'm good at my job, but I hated the schmoozing...I no longer have to do it! There is very little I properly miss to be fair. Still seeing my parents as I'm doing their shopping, Cinema was my thing but I don't really miss it, same with meals out. I'm a runner, but still do that. We are both in the nhs so very aware of all the terrible things that have been happening, but for myself I could continue lockdown forever.

Dollywilde · 18/05/2020 23:50

I’m 28 weeks pregnant and I really like that unborn DC is getting to hear more of DH’s voice in the womb as we’re working from home together every day Smile

Plus I can do my emails from bed when my back is aching. And I can have a nap on my lunch hour on my own bed. And I’m not having to sit sober in the pub because no ones there!

There are days when I feel pretty bleak about it but there are some definite advantages.

nicslackey · 18/05/2020 23:59

Post grad son has come back to wfh. I feel as if every day he is here, every meal and chat is a gift I was not expecting as he had left home for all intents and purposes. I love the lack of stress from a 3 hour commute every day. I know this is just a bubble but right now, I feel so calm. I am going to work every few weeks and I honestly do not know how I will face being full time again.

Lifeisconfusing · 19/05/2020 01:14

@ cariaaad

Bloody amazing take care and I wish you a healthy baby 👶 🍼

Lifeisconfusing · 19/05/2020 01:15

@Alothere Yeah what do you sell that’s amazing

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 19/05/2020 01:19

My husband ended up with nearly 9 weeks paternity. Our first baby was born day before the peak. I have really valued the extra support I have been able to have with him at home and how great he is with our little one whilst we adjust to life as a three

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 19/05/2020 01:45

No school problems (eldest frickin nightmare, refusing to work)
Money issues eased slightly (lump sum refunded back as abroad trip for youngest school trip been cancelled)
No school run
It's like we're having more quality time and I'm not always yelling or stressed.

Seren85 · 19/05/2020 01:53

I've started a lockdown liaison and it's just been the most perfect longest first.

Bluewavescrashing · 19/05/2020 01:58

@Aloethere I'm also intrigued! What's your business?

ElectricMistofelees · 19/05/2020 02:57

I find it a really weird thought that there are people out there who would have had car (Or other) accidents And would have had their lives changed significantly for the worse, but due to this is just hasn’t happened and will never know.

1forAll74 · 19/05/2020 03:26

babybythesea had a lovely answer !!

RoseGoldEagle · 19/05/2020 04:10

Having a few extra months with DS (1) at home before having to put him into childcare. Don’t get me wrong it’s been incredibly hard working from home with him at home too, but I’ve loved the bonus of getting to spend more time with him

Ineedabreak19 · 19/05/2020 04:17

Not missed the politics of my work place, I do love my job but I've not missed the machavellian scheming of some people.

My kids are more chilled out - - probably due to boycotting school work-- & I am too because I've got to the 'I can't be arsed stage'.

WinWinnieTheWay · 19/05/2020 04:24

Spending time with my family. We have fun, we talk and this whole experiences has enriched our relationships.

Teenage DC are much happier at home, but I suppose that there is no fomo to be had.

groovergirl · 19/05/2020 04:45

Yes to no nits! And no common colds!

  • WFH while wearing an oatmeal facepack to improve my complexion
  • Time to organise things o, so many things to sell online
  • Walking on the sports oval with DD in the evening
  • Finally, a clean home office
  • Neighbours being super nice despite social-distancing; I love having a cuppa with them on the driveway in the afternoon
  • Saving $$$ on petrol because I hardly ever drive now!
TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 19/05/2020 05:05

DP’s hours have been cut to four days a week. But his day off is a Monday so he has a long weekend now. He’s happier and more relaxed than I’ve seen him in months.

Going to the farm shop more. They have the most delicious sausages and fresh fruit and veg. They have two black cats who like to sleep on the counter. They sometimes let us pet them.😺
