Birds nest in bush

Posting here for traffic and it doesn’t quite fit in the pets section

So a couple of little birdies have set up home in my front garden bush (lol)

I didn’t mind at first. But over the last few days as they’ve been swooping in to land home they’ve been shitting all over my car.

Ok, not so bad, it could use a wash anyway.

I’m laid in bed now and they are calling their mate to come home or maybe tweeting to shit more on my car, but they are tweeting and have been for the last 20-30 mins!

What can I do? I’m not about to go poking around in said bush with a stick! Do I call pest control? Will they move on on their own accord? I’m at a loss! I can’t take much more tweet tweeting!!

I had a little nosy earlier and one little birdie jumped up and sat on the windowsill. Very cute I thought. Then I looked under the windowsill at the mountain of bird shit. Then to the right where my electricity meter is and the box is coated in white shit also! Not so cute.

Any advice?

You do absolutely nothing because it's illegal to move a nest, as frustrating as that can be.

You could maybe buy some deterrents for your windowsill.

Get used to tweeting. Mine start at sunrise with a massive argument😂

Leave them be! Nesting birds are legally protected.

They'll probably be off when their chicks have fledged.

Note, mine are massive flock of sparrows whose youngs fledged and they are already about to lay again asap.
I love that noisy shit who nick my veg and fruit though...

Sorry but yabu! You are lucky to have nesting birds. Enjoy them while they’re there and powerwash the rest afterwards.
As for getting out pest control...really... 🙄

Fasten something to the window which will blow around to deter them from your windowsill or near the meter.

Hey perch, well I didn’t realise it was illegal to move them and i mentioned pest control as I figured that maybe they would be the best, most experienced person to move it (if it was legal, which it is not) rather than me doing it myself and potentially causing harm to the little birdies/chicks or eggs!

They will move on when the babies have left the nest. You are not allowed to touch the nest it is illegal. I've got a nest of crows in my roof, wake me up every morning. Just wait and they will go.

in a word starlings (see another thread) no pretty bird song just raucous shrieks - with gentle back ground of song birds - but even that is fine it a sign that we haven't killed off wild birds

Having them shit on the car must be annoying but I can't work up a lot of sympathy about the tweeting. Our dawn chorus is pretty much drowned out by the bloody seagulls nesting on the roof. I'd love to be able to just hear the songbirds in the morning.

They should be moving on soon. I had some sparrows nesting in an old waste pipe hole outside my bedroom. Three chicks and they sure were noisy! No bird poo though. They've gone now.

Power washing isn’t an option I’m afraid 😓 it’s all woodchip under the window will! Probably an inviting environment for them!

Just hope the neighbours cats or any stray foxes don’t sniff them out! The bush is quite small and circular and not any higher than say my hip - so quite accessible to predators 😣

Probably blackbirds or robins. Pp are correct, it is illegal to disturb a bird nest. They be gone when the babies fledge so you'll just have to put up with it unfortunately.
All I get is squabbling but hilarious and pretty fucking starlings! Yobs of the garden bird world that lot!

No unfortunately. I’m not really clued up on birds but the one I saw today was brown. I’ll google the names pp have posted and confirm!

Blackbird maybe? Females are brown and nest in shrubs and hedges.

This one! The one I have is more brown in colour, but up close, wow the colours are amazing!

I get woken up around 5.30 in the morning by bastard birds apparently practicing their tap dancing on the edge of roof, right above my bedroom window. The fucking racket they make! They might be crows, I see crows on the roof opposite on the rare occasions I've bothered to look out the window that early.

They don't shit on my windows or anything, or on my car, which is parked in the drive, so at least I'm spared that.

If it's got iridescent colours then it's a starling, as in the picture you found, not a blackbird.

Well.. blackbirds are the best singers (along with thrushes) but starlings are feisty and if you get to see the adults feeding their gawky, awkward youngsters you may forgive the inconvenience.

Well when it hopped on the windowsill earlier it did hop up quite aggressively. Almost as if to say ‘yeah what you look at’ and I thought it may attack if I took a step closer and try to peck my eyes out. It certainly wasn’t timid. I was timid. I Made a swift exit and thanked it for gracing my car and outside garden with its droppings!

I can’t say it sings, just sounds like a car that won’t start?

Ha! That might be starling imo. Ours nests under roof in a front and we are told very loudly and firmly to fuck off from the front yard during nesting😂
