I Was having a good day working at home and painting panels. Bf decides to pop round and take over the painting. Only problem is he’s really messy and always ends up damaging property in one way or another. I tried to remain calm but he starts making a mess. Im then constantly walking behind him Cleaning up. He then thinks I’m ungrateful. This is why I don’t like him doing jobs around the house cos he makes a mess etc. Am I ungrateful. I feel annoyed he’s annoyed

Why didn't you just tell him not to? Or when he starts making a mess, tell him to stop and clear up after himself

Aquamarine1029 · 18/05/2020 19:26

Have you told him to fuck off, because I certainly would. This is your home, not his, and you have every right to tell him to stop "helping." It's time to stand up for yourself. If can't respect your boundaries, you need to rethink this relationship.

Saww30sawe · 18/05/2020 19:29

Yes I agree. If I’d have said not to do it he would then be upset. Fed up of protecting his feelings. I’m really reconsidering this relationship. He never listens and when corrected or told not to do something he sulks. Pathetic

It is totally pathetic. Come on, op. You deserve much better than this childish, sulking arsehole. End it now and you will feel SO much better.

heartsonacake · 18/05/2020 19:36

When you say “pop round”, does he not live with you? If he doesn’t YABU for mixing households.

STAYTHEFUCKHOME · 18/05/2020 19:38

As hearts said.

Saww30sawe · 18/05/2020 19:45

Not allowed to pop round to go in my garden and paint panels? Why not. He didn’t come into my house.

No we don’t live together

No, not allowed. Don’t you realise we’re in a lockdown? The rules apply to everyone and that includes you.

Saww30sawe · 18/05/2020 19:49

I’m not trying to turn this post into a lockdown discussion.

OP posts:
heartsonacake · 18/05/2020 19:50

So don’t break the lockdown rules then.

MiniCooperLover · 18/05/2020 19:55

They didn't break the rules? You are allowed contact with one person outside your household now?

STAYTHEFUCKHOME · 18/05/2020 20:16

Mini - but not at home or the garden.

LouiseTrees · 18/05/2020 20:18

Not in a private residence including the garden but to be fair if they maintained social distancing it doesn’t matter. Anyway back to the OPs problem ... did you tell him you were not being ungrateful it’s just that you can’t stand mess. Tell him you have OCD (even if you don’t). Hopefully he’ll sulk less. I think it’s a bit mental to finish a relationship just on the grounds you state, it’s pretty minor stuff and no one is perfect. But if there are other reasons, ‘tis your life.
