To tell her to wait before coming to fetch her stuff?

I split up with my XP a few weeks ago. There are still a few of her things in my flat which she needs to fetch, just some car washing stuff that she has at home as well, and some slippers which she also has at home. Yesterday she told me she’d had the squits, then went on to say she’d be over next weekend to fetch her stuff.

My sister has been confirmed as having Covid19. Her DP had it much worse so they both got tested. My sister had a bit of chills and the squits only.

I’ve told my ex that she should wait at least another week to fetch her stuff just in case and she’s a bit put out. She said it was due to doing vigorous exercise, she went for a brisk walk, so clearly that’s ridiculous.

Me and DS are moving house in just over a month and I want to avoid any unnecessary exposure in case either of us get ill. Obviously I’m not letting anyone in my flat who I don’t want in, but AIBU for making her wait for a bit of squits?

Just bag it up and leave it outside when she comes up to get it. You’re making life harder than it means to be

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 17/05/2020 11:40

Yabu for calling it the squits 🤮

PotteringAlong · 17/05/2020 11:41

*harder than it needs to be

sniffysnuffler · 17/05/2020 11:42

YANBU to want to avoid contact with her (even if she hadn't been ill). But maybe you could leave her items somewhere for her to collect while avoiding contact? Sounds like it's not much - in a box/bag outside the house? Or offer to take it over to her yourself (contact free) assuming that wouldn't be too much of a hassle?

Whatisthisfuckery · 17/05/2020 11:52

I have offered to leave it outside. I can’t take it over because she live 40 miles away and I don’t drive.

It’s kind of hard with her to work out whether she’s actually been ill or just been to the loo a couple of times. She is notoriously difficult to get an accurate description of events from. She’ll deny anything is wrong when she’s really ill but will make a big deal over nothing so I’d rather not chance it. I’m also not terribly keen to see her atm either if I’m honest.

If it is literally car cleaning stuff and a pair of slippers tell her you will bin it and transfer the cost of replacement. It's honestly not worth this angst. Who would do an 80 mile round trip for some slippers and car wash stuff? Confused

Whatisthisfuckery · 17/05/2020 12:04

We both have keys to the other ones flat, I’d forgotten that. I’d quite like the keys back as I have people coming in to sort the flat out after I move.

I think we’ll manage with social distancing. Thanks for the responses though. I suspect some of the reason is just that I don’t really want to see her and I’m using Covid as an excuse.

Leave it on the doorstep when she's coming. You don't need to see or speak to her

22Giraffes · 17/05/2020 14:07

Totally agree with @MrsSiriusBlack1, the only think I took from your post is that YABU to call it the squits. Not helpful I know, sorry.

Rightbutno · 17/05/2020 14:18

Yabu for calling dihorrea the squits. We're not toddlers.

Rightbutno · 17/05/2020 14:19

Jus leave her stuff on the doorstep. Get her to do the same with anything she has for you. Then disinfect that stuff.

OneandTwenty · 17/05/2020 14:26

Change the locks immediately.

Leave her stuff in a box or bag on your doorstep.

Sugarpea123 · 17/05/2020 14:29

I don't really get this 🤷‍♀️ leave it outside/drop it outside hers, post it, Hermes collection...

Probably because she couldn't spell it either.

An 80 mile round trip to pick up slippers and car cleaner?! Sounds like she's just looking for an excuse to see you.

Just leave them outside or post them.

NotKeenOnSwede · 17/05/2020 15:46

An 80 mile round trip for a pair of slippers? I think somebody wants you back OP!
