AIBU?

DH uses 4 pairs of underwear a day!

Lighthearted thread Smile

AIBU to think this is excessive?!

He cycles to work so wears two pairs in case of ahem sweatiness soaking through on his work trousers. When he gets there he changes into a fresh pair. After work he cycles home, has a shower (key worker) then dons a fourth and final pair.

Four bloody pairs for every work day!

AIBU or is he?

Depends on who washes them. If it's him it's fine. If it's you then it's not.

YABU - doesn't 28 undies take the same amount of time, electric and washing powder to wash as 7 ?

Key worker cycling to work & back = hero

So get washing and stop moaning Grin

What’s the problem with washing liquid? Do you wash underwear at home with Fairy?

Surely, no need to touch washing liquid when putting a load in the washer?

What does fuck he wear to bed - please tell me he dons a wee willie winkie look?!

4 underwear a day is fine in your dh's case, I think. He has legitimate reason. Not going to make massive difference in amount of washing to do.

Yuck.
Can’t you sign him up to that SAS show? Needs to get over himself.
Pah to sweaty bollocks by choice. Try bleeding like a suck pig for a week a month. How’s changing every five minutes feeling when it’s not so edifying.

28 pairs means he’s working seven days a week ? And he has to do his own laundry. Make sure he’s got spare batteries for his miners lamp. Don’t want him to think he can get out of mowing the lawn 😄

Ahhh they don’t all cost £245! My mistake.

Anyhoo, I think if he is doing his fair share of laundry and household tasks, he can wear 28 pairs of pant if he wishes. But only if it’s not all down to you.

Found a pic of your dh.

Got to say with 28 pairs a week and him not doing the washing aand looking like this, I'm not entirely sure about your taste in men Grin.

Primerose He has, I promise you, a paraffin lamp for emergencies. Yes, he really is this eccentric. Takes all sorts to make the world go round.

Bridgetreilly maybe OP isn't from the UK, other English speaking countries call them underwear and pants are what you wear on top of that. Off topic, what do UK folk call lower body outerwear? The collective term for jeans, trousers, shorts etc.

I think he is being reasonable. I don't use four pairs a day but I also don't ration myself, if I feel like changing I do. They are small items to wash and cheap to replace if worn out. I assume OP and her DH have some fair system for dividing up chores including laundry so that doesn't really come in to it, if they don't it is a seperate issue. That won't be solved by her DH reusing them without washing (cant believe this was suggested up thread).

Why are some people shocked at someone cycling to work in their work clothes - do you not see people cycling to work or school very often? Most people cycle in the clothes they will be wearing for the day, can you imagine teenagers getting to school, having a shower and getting changed?

I've been thinking just the same thing. Some people have strange ideas. Confused

OP I think your husband sounds lovely.

Key worker🤔 what’s that got to do with anything? My whole family are ‘key workers’ bloody hell they don’t sweat more than non key workers

If he does his own laundry then he's endearingly eccentric....

But if not...

All these different types of men (alpha, nerd, eccentric) but what they have in common is a seeming inability to do basic domestic tasks!

If he's ambling along on a penny farthing in his tweed suit, why does he sweat so much anyway? When you said he wears 2 pairs to avoid sweaty clothes, I was picturing a competitive middle-aged man in lycra racing to work every day in an attempt to set a new PB.

Same Ramsey! So funny how the image of this man in my head has changed since the start of the thread. He’s aged a fair bit too in my mind!

OP, please tell me your DH is not a politician? I’m kind of imagining you’re married to somebody like Jacob Rees-Mogg 😬

It must be the age of being very very fussy about cycling, and clothes. and being sweaty now.. In the 60's era, I and mostly everyone in my workplace cycled to work, two miles for me, We just got to work, stuck our bikes in the bike racks, and went straight to the offices. No changing areas, just men a women's toilets. no kitchens,no nothing, then cycled home after work, had some dinner, and maybe never changed clothes, till it was bedtime, unless were going out in the evening.. Most people didn't have that many clothes to keep changing them.
