AIBU?

DH uses 4 pairs of underwear a day!

Lighthearted thread Smile

AIBU to think this is excessive?!

He cycles to work so wears two pairs in case of ahem sweatiness soaking through on his work trousers. When he gets there he changes into a fresh pair. After work he cycles home, has a shower (key worker) then dons a fourth and final pair.

Four bloody pairs for every work day!

AIBU or is he?

Well my kids have just been cackling with laughter at the sweat marks on my crotch area while doing a HIIT workout there so I’ve realised I am not one to be commenting on this thread Grin

I can't believe how many on here say shower at work. I've never had a workplace with a shower. Jealous. Grin

I'm wondering where he hides his sweat soaked undies during the day 🤮🤣.

I once had to go into a (cycling) colleague's drawer and encountered numerous well used socks (shudders Grin).

Maybe cyclists who need to change clothes are treating the commute like a race course. My body, let alone my arse has ever got that sweaty whikst cycling

It must be the age of being very very fussy about cycling, and clothes. and being sweaty now.. In the 60's era, I and mostly everyone in my workplace cycled to work, two miles for me, We just got to work, stuck our bikes in the bike racks, and went straight to the offices.

This is how it is for most cyclists where I live now. I wonder if some people only think of cyclists as people who are "in to cycling", whereas I live in a city where cycling is a very common mode of transport and people jump on their bikes to get around all the time.

Thanks for the laughs, everyone. To answer a few points:

The cycle ride is two miles along undulating country lanes.

He's not a politician, or a psychiatrist.

I only mentioned the key worker bit because he provides personal care to disabled clients and has to shower as soon as he gets through the door due to the risk of bringing CV back home. Apologies if I offended or upset anyone.

I thought the wedding outfit was hilarious and the children love looking through the album and laughing at silly Daddy.

Again, thank you all for your input. We need fun during these times Smile

@1300cakes we call them trousers. As a collective word, they’re all trousers

I can’t believe no one’s commented on the most shocking revelation- OH got married in a pith helmet. What?! Talk about upstaging the bride.

Agree with PP that this sounds pretty gross. Ok, if eccentric, to cycle in tweed if it’s a v gentle and leisurely ride, but if he’s so sweaty he needs two pairs of pants, the tweed must be minging. To those saying no need to shower after cycling to work- are you assuming enough sweat to soak through double pants?!

Probably double the journey time when you’re riding on a penny farthing @lljkkGrin

No changing areas, just men a women's toilets. no kitchens,no nothing, then cycled home after work, had some dinner, and maybe never changed clothes, till it was bedtime, unless were going out in the evening.. Most people didn't have that many clothes to keep changing them.

OP, please tell me your DH is not a politician? I’m kind of imagining you’re married to somebody like Jacob Rees-Mogg 😬

Same Ramsey! So funny how the image of this man in my head has changed since the start of the thread. He’s aged a fair bit too in my mind!

If he's ambling along on a penny farthing in his tweed suit, why does he sweat so much anyway? When you said he wears 2 pairs to avoid sweaty clothes, I was picturing a competitive middle-aged man in lycra racing to work every day in an attempt to set a new PB.

If he does his own laundry then he's endearingly eccentric....

But if not...

All these different types of men (alpha, nerd, eccentric) but what they have in common is a seeming inability to do basic domestic tasks!

Why are some people shocked at someone cycling to work in their work clothes - do you not see people cycling to work or school very often? Most people cycle in the clothes they will be wearing for the day, can you imagine teenagers getting to school, having a shower and getting changed?

I've been thinking just the same thing. Some people have strange ideas. Confused

OP I think your husband sounds lovely.
