AIBU?

DH uses 4 pairs of underwear a day!

Lighthearted thread Smile

AIBU to think this is excessive?!

He cycles to work so wears two pairs in case of ahem sweatiness soaking through on his work trousers. When he gets there he changes into a fresh pair. After work he cycles home, has a shower (key worker) then dons a fourth and final pair.

Four bloody pairs for every work day!

AIBU or is he?

He does sound like he dresses like an old Englishman and although others seem to think it's odd.. I like it.

Well all that cycling offsets his extra laundry, re his carbon footprint, so that's OK, right?

My DH is rolling round the couch creased up at this thread!

He’s pointed out that he does back to back spin classes twice a week, and doesn’t wear two pairs of pants for that!

Think I saw your DH yesterday with one of his mates chatting about sweaty kecks...

Does his tweed jacket have elbow patches?

It could be worse - it could be 4 pairs a month!

Pair 1 - same pair from the previous evening for cycling in. Wear Lycra or padded cycling shorts for journey in to work, not his work clothes (what about when it rains, doesn't he get all splashed?)

Pair 2 - change into his day pants, for work and cycling home.

Pair 3 - new pair after evening shower.

That would save 5 pairs a week. Presumably he doesn't use 4 pairs / day at the weekend?

but what if his work clothes get splashed on his way in

Does he clasp a meerschaum between his teeth as he tootles along?

How does he fit his elephant gun on his bike carrier? Grin Grin

I always wanted a pith helmet (completely losing the point)

Better to have 4 pairs a day than be the one with the husband who decided he wasn’t going to wash during lockdown

On the off-chance this is real - no, it's not at all normal, why on Earth doesn't he shower and change at work? Minger!

I would never cycle in and not shower, it's grim (unless it's exclusively downhill or less than a mile).

Is he an eccentric psychiatrist by chance? I dont know any nurses that would dress like that.

DH cycles to work but he doesn’t wear underwear. Cycling gear has inbuilt pants/chamois lining designed to be worn without underwear. So he showers at work, wears one pair of pants, showers when gets home and into his pj shorts. He does cycle20 miles home so is quite sweaty.

I commented to my DH I seemed to be washing a lot of boxers... But it's only 2-3 pairs a day (1 for morning run, 1 during the day, 1 post hot tub and shower).

I've seen a lot of men cycling in woollen trousers and pullovers, but not tweed and puttees.... The sailors in their whites always make me a bit nervous for stains while cycling.

Why are some people shocked at someone cycling to work in their work clothes - do you not see people cycling to work or school very often? Most people cycle in the clothes they will be wearing for the day, can you imagine teenagers getting to school, having a shower and getting changed?
The OP has not suggested her husband is a serious cyclist who will be going at speed and getting a full sweat on - he wears tweed and doesn't do lycra. However if he does get a sweaty arse (not sure why that would be his only sweaty area), I would suggest he has a pair of trackpants to cycle in and just changes his boxers and puts his trousers on when he arrives.

Depends how far they’re cycling.

He needs some of those absorbent pants for men. They’re like period pants but for sweat, urine etc etc and I’ve seen them advertised recently for men. Maybe google that.

Chamois lined pants sound quite nice.

This thread is funny, he sounds an eccentric chap!!

Bit from cycling to work then ONLY changing your pants though. I’d be more concerned about my pits.
