Spending £400 on a fan.....

A Dyson room fan to be precise.

Don’t sleep at all well in the summer and house really holds the heat. Have tried cheap rotor blade fans before but the noise keeps me awake.

Torn between thinking it will really improve quality of life and thinking it’s a ridiculous amount of money to spend.

Any opinions?

We can see this thread is a few years old so some of the guidance may be out of date, but we’ve recently refreshed our best tower fan guide with advice on choosing the right fan, including the pros and cons of a Dyson fan and more budget-friendly options. We hope it helps.

I have one and I love it. I very nearly bought a second for DD but then I saw the Meacofan and thought I'd try it.

It's as good if not better.

We went for the mini version but if you have space go for the bigger one. You won't regret it and at £100 it's well worth it.

Honestly it's fab. Quiet and effective.

I have one and last night I had to go down stairs and sleep in the front room so that tells you how good Dyson fans are !
They are quieter as that was why I wanted one but they literally just blow the hot air around .
Was awful last night

We have a Dyson hot & cool fan. It’s OK, but not sure I’d buy another. It works better at heating than cooling, and is fairly noisy, so isn’t particularly useful for nights

I have a Dyson hot and cool fan and am pleased with the cooling function so far. I don't find it too noisy.
It's certainly a lot quieter than any of the conventional blade fans we have.

Thank you, I’m going to check out the Meaco one.

Really don’t like the idea of spending hundreds and being disappointed.

Accept the point re a fan never being as effective as an air conditioning unit but for various reasons (space and cost) I don’t want to buy one of those.

They're really nice. We had them at an old workplace and they're effective and silent. You can't put a price on a good night's sleep.

We’ve got a couple of Dysons , the large cool one in the lounge and a hot / cold in the bedroom ( it was on offer we don’t use the heat ) . I find them excellent and don’t like blade fans as they are dust gatherers. The dysons also look much better IMO .
