Looks like blackberry to me

DonLewis · 16/05/2020 17:36

Well, the definition of weed is simply a plant growi g in a place you don't want it to...

BoneAppleTeaa · 16/05/2020 17:37

I am absolutely no expert!

Sparklyring · 16/05/2020 17:37

I.would say no. Is it not a kind of bramble?

WarmSausageTea · 16/05/2020 17:37

I’d guess at a weed, but the Picture This app is good for plant recognition.

Knittedfairies · 16/05/2020 17:39

Looks like a bramble to me too; so it can be a plant if you want to keep it, a weed if you don't...

BBCONEANDTWO · 16/05/2020 17:40

A weed is just something that you don't want I believe I'd call that a weed though but I don't know what type of plant it is.

Mrsmorton · 16/05/2020 17:42

Bramble

ladymary86 · 16/05/2020 17:43

Great if that's the case I think we are both kind of right though 🤣
If it's a bramble DP will want to keep it but I think it looks horrendous 🤣

Thanks

Bramble. It'll take over your garden if it's anything like the ones in our back garden. I pull them out so they're a weed to me!

NaturalCleaningParticles · 16/05/2020 18:04

Bramble... whether they're a weed depends on whether you like to make crumble Grin

DramaAlpaca · 16/05/2020 18:07

That's a bramble. They are very invasive, so if you don't want it there pull it out.

Imapotato · 16/05/2020 20:02

Looks like black berries. Technically a weed I guess, but you’ll have blackberries, which are nice.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 16/05/2020 20:17

Lods of weeds are actually edible and useful. Like dandelions. You can use flowers to make a syrup and leaves into a salad. Clover is edible too. And then brambles who are just the top in tastiness😁

RyanBergarasTeeth · 16/05/2020 20:26

I always thought a weed was an evasive plant that sapped the nutrients from the soil making it harder for other plants to live.

RyanBergarasTeeth · 16/05/2020 20:27

Im clearly wrong. Ya learn something new every day. Therefore its a weed if you dont want it and a normal bramble plant if ya do.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 16/05/2020 20:33

You could put a bit of nice border around it and keep it within it. If you give it some nice support it could look ok

Squidwitch · 16/05/2020 20:37

Wild raspberry I think?

Squidwitch · 16/05/2020 20:38

Actually don't think raspberry that chunky. Probably bramble

1066vegan · 16/05/2020 20:41

Yep, bramble. We've got them growing in a few places in the back garden. You do need to keep on top of them and keep cutting back the runners so they don't take over the place, but it's worth keeping (and letting it grow a lot bigger than it is now).

We had a blackberry and apple crumble tonight. One of the ones I made and froze last year with blackberries and apples from the garden. Delicious.

Cabinfever10 · 16/05/2020 20:43

Agree it's a bramble. When you dig it up make sure you get all of it

ItsJustASimpleLine · 16/05/2020 20:44

Download the Google Lens app and scan it.

I've been using it on our walks to identify plants and insects its great.

IncrediblySadToo · 16/05/2020 20:47

Surely it's a 'crumble plant' ?!

ProudMarys · 16/05/2020 21:02

I would say a young bramble.
