To ask for tech advice? Keep receiving texts from Google

Hi, I'm hoping there may be some tech whizzes on here or anyone who has had the same issue!

For the past couple of weeks I've been waking up to a text from Google. The text has a verification code.

When it first happened I logged into my Google account and immediately changed my password. I'm a sucker for internet security so wanted to cover myself.

But I'm still receiving these texts. I'm a bit worried that someone is trying to hack my account? Obviously with online banking and PayPal etc I'm concerned the same person may be trying to access that?

If someone could shed some light I'd be grateful!! Thanks

What do the texts actually say?

avroroad · 16/05/2020 10:24

What's do they say?

bridgetreilly · 16/05/2020 10:24

Could be that someone else has (deliberately or inadvertently) put your number in as their google verification number. And since they are not receiving the verification codes, they keep hitting the button to resend the code.

I think you can just ignore the texts, tbh.

I've deleted the texts otherwise I would have posted a screenshot.
They literally say "Your Google verification code is xxxxxx "
It's the amount I receive them that worries me.
@bridgetreilly do you not think this is anything to be concerned about then?

Someone is trying to hack your google account

If that's all they are I would just ignore them. Someone might have given a wrong number, or it could be a scam. But if you just ignore them you can't come to any harm.
The golden rule is, if you didn't expect it just ignore it.
