Dog walkers

Lockdowner13 · 16/05/2020 09:42

I’ve noticed that since the places we can visit are restricted at the moment due to virus, just how many dog walkers there are.

I’m finding it impossible to take kids out without seeing dog off it’s lead. I really don’t like dogs much.

I’m finding that dog owners round here are selfish. Taking up the whole of the path so I need to run in the road, off lead when kids are walking, taking over the local green space.

AIBU to think that during lockdown some better rules should have been implemented. Eg dog free hours for exercise. We usually go to dog free places for our fun. Eg kids parks, cafes, national trust. Now I’m being forced to mix with dogs and it’s annoying me.

And people cycling across the grass - in our beautiful Victorian park. Just no. Invest in some bike locks for your new bikes and leave them attached to the bike stands like normal people.

Sillyscrabblegames · 16/05/2020 20:36

Are you coping with the squirrels and pigeons? Can't stand pigeons myself, so always jump in the road when I see one.

Lockdowner13 · 16/05/2020 20:37

Do pigeons bite peoples faces too and kill children?

Wouldn’t you all like your own space where you could tread in dog poo all day long and leave your bags around a bin “to collect on way back from your walk”. You could be off lead for as long as you want. No children allowed. Just whole location for you and your “he’s just being friendly” dogs

Believe me OP that day can’t come quick enough! The reality is far removed from what you state - but I guess you wouldn’t know that, seeing as you have no fucking idea of what a “normal” dog walk entails. Do us all a favour and stick to pavement walking.

Lockdowner13 · 16/05/2020 20:39

I bet you lot were the people that didn’t follow the once per day exercise rule that we did have. “But my doggy needs to go out a few times a day as he gets restless”. I was glad to read that some parks did insist that dogs are on a lead during lockdown. Very sensible.

You are not being unreasonable!

I go out for walks with my 5 month old strapped in a carrier and in the past few weeks I've had two dogs, off of their leads, jump up and try to bite my baby!

Dogs are fine. Dog owners are dicks.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 16/05/2020 20:44

Oh come on people, this is clearly a windup! I suspect it's a plant from MNHQ, let's face it no one has much to talk about during lock down and clicks = revenue.

Alymcnabs · 16/05/2020 20:50

Wow! How unlucky are you? I have been walking dogs for 40+ years. Never has a dog tried to bite me. I’ve had a few jump on me in excitement - probably because I always have a pocket full of dog treats.

What is it about you that makes dogs want to bite your baby??

DrinkVeneer · 16/05/2020 20:50

Always makes me laugh when people try to make out that they are striking a blow for nature and diversity of wildlife by owning a mute lifelong-dependent live accessory that they cart around with them everywhere and which incidentally has a net negative effect on actual wildlife.

Booboostwo · 16/05/2020 20:51

Pigeons kill through e.coli, salmonella, St Louis encephalitis, and Histoplasmosis. Better start a new thread OP, quickly.

Booboostwo · 16/05/2020 20:52

Rabies. I bet that typo really taxed your brain, didn’t it Macncheeseballs? Sorry about that.

Alymcnabs · 16/05/2020 20:53

Of course it is. Nobody could be this clueless in real life! Fun though 😂😂😂

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 16/05/2020 20:53

Years ago, in the midst of nowhere, had to stop for DD1 to do an urgent wee on the roadside. While she was doing the business, a JRT appeared out of nowhere, leapt into the back of the car and do you know what? The bastard just LICKED baby DD2's face while she laughed her head off, and then ran off again. I didnt even have time to say "hello lovely doggie" let alone have a tantrum about a DOG.

Lockdowner13 · 16/05/2020 20:53

What is it about you that makes dogs want to bite your baby?? Hmm

Disgusting comment. It’s not her fault is it? It’s idiot owners that think their dog is trustworthy around others. Use the lead people! It’s not rocket science.

Lockdowner13 · 16/05/2020 20:56

Ew I’d be livid if a dog jumped in my car and licked my baby. Would it be ok if my child jumped on you and licked your face? Thought not. Grim.

Floatyboat · 16/05/2020 20:57

Dogs should be on the lead at the moment. Assuming they're on the lead live and let live. if they're not on the lead then that's obviously selfish on the owner's part.

Daphnise · 16/05/2020 20:58

I hope I don't meet you on a walk.

Lockdowner13 · 16/05/2020 20:58

Thank you! Dogs should be on the lead! Yes!

Also I don’t want anyone (human or dog) touching me. It’s an invasion of my personal space. I’m within my rights to not be sniffed, jumped on or touched by any human or dog. Imagine if a human started jumping at you and putting muddy hands on your chest. Would not be acceptable right.

You didn’t give OP chance to answer the question OP.

My dogs don’t need to be kept on lead. They pose no threat to anyone. They are not interested in anyone. What about you and your little Tarquin? From what you have posted you need to be leashed around others.

Your PFB is allowed to run wild. My dogs aren’t. I won’t ever recommend those dangerous retractable leads but have you ever thought of tethering your delightful DC to a long line? They work well for those who have no recall - so I’m told

lazylockdowner · 16/05/2020 21:04

I also don't like dogs I'm actually very afraid after being attacked by a french Bordeaux

I hate dog owners who just let there dogs approach you, jump at you etc I'm always very wary when I see a dog off lead I make a point of giving wide birth and keeping my head down.

Just last week a lady with a husky approached (I really dislike husky they are so wolf like and beady eyed) I done my usual and gave a wide birth and the dog started to approach in that crouchy creepy was husky's do snd I kept walking wider and it kept coming I asked owner to call her dog back away and she was really off saying he's fine etc I said I do not like dogs which is why I'm trying to move away she was most taken back

Also had it with smaller dogs jumping etc and owner saying oh he's fine just wants to play.... my good ker likes playing but I wouldn't et her jump at your legs and lick you

I personally think if people can't keep there dogs away from others then they shouldn't be without a lead I understand they love there dog but they can't except everyone else too

lazylockdowner · 16/05/2020 21:07

My toddler like to play that should say

Alymcnabs · 16/05/2020 21:12

YoloPenguin! Your DD peed on the roadside 🙈 I wonder what OP will make of that? (Her perfect, precious DC is way above that nonsense 😂). Mine did too 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have, on occasion, peed in the woods. When you gotta go ..... you gotta go 😁

Alsohuman · 16/05/2020 21:13

We used to have those before lockdown, then all those spaces got invaded.

BlodwynBludd · 16/05/2020 21:13

My usually peaceful dog walks are being ruined by people like you invading my dog friendly spaces with your stinky attitude. Normally I see a maximum of two other people but now my lovely dog friendly common is full of non dog owners. You should go back to your dog free places.and leave us alone we don't want you. YABU
