To ask how long it took you to get pregnant after the injection?

DH and I been together 5 years. Married in November. I came off the injection (depo provera) in February, as in my shot was due then and I didn't have it. Didn't have any periods while on it, and was on it about a year and a half.
Obviously with everything that's happened we're holding of on TTC at the moment, although if it happened it happened.
I've bought ovulation sticks and am still not ovulating, 3 months later. Sad
Everyone I've spoken to said it's taken them at least a year to conceive after this. (I know I'm fertile, or at least was, before going on injection, DH also has 3 kids from previous relationship)
If anyone has been on it and can give me a timescale of how long it took for them, just for my own information, I'd be truly grateful!

It took me 2 years for my periods to return, then I conceived about 2 months after.

Sparklfairy · 16/05/2020 10:26

They say it can be 18 months+. I was on it for nearly 10 years and my periods came back after 5 months I think.

Thanks so much. It seems shocking to me that this wasn't ever mentioned to me when I went on it, and that seems to be the case for everyone who's been on it.

Still waiting... 4 years and counting Hmm

Suzie6789 · 16/05/2020 20:07

Periods came back after 10 months. It definitely should have been explained to you.

NowSissyThatWalk · 16/05/2020 21:19

That's really helpful all, thank you.
@TinyBarista that's such a long time, I'm sorry. Can I ask if you're TTC?

Very much an anomaly/outlier. Was due injection in August, got pregnant by mid-October. Period returned instantly the three times I have taken a break from depo. But I appreciate that is extremely rare.

FunkyChunk · 16/05/2020 21:28

I'd been on it for years and years. Final jab in August (so "running out" in Oct/Nov) and I was pregnant the following June.
We were actively trying, tracking probable ovulation days etc.
Unfortunately I can't remember how long it took to get periods back.

GrumpySausage · 16/05/2020 21:32

With my DS, it was 2 months and with my DD 3 months. I know you've already passed this but there is hope.

My friend was 4 months.

Rebelwithallthecause · 16/05/2020 21:35

About 3 years after last injection

DappledThings · 16/05/2020 21:35

14 months till I got my first period then they were really erratic fora while. Had my last injection November 2012, conceived February 2015.

BumDiggyDiggyDiggyBumDiggyBum · 16/05/2020 21:37

I last had it the November, was due it again the February and didn’t get it. Fell pregnant in the May, didn’t even have a period in between. A day or so spotting that’s it. Fair to say we didn’t find out until I was already 13 weeks gone!

torthecatlady · 16/05/2020 21:38

4 years and waiting here too, but I have endometriosis and have been waiting for the fertility clinic for a year now.

thebirthlyhallows · 16/05/2020 21:46

TinyBarista · 17/05/2020 09:36
