AIBU to visit dying grandmother?

So I have found out that my grandmother, who I am very close with, could pass away shortly (however, it is all a little unclear and strange). I am really upset and feeling really stressed about it all, but to make things even harder, she lives at the other end of the country to me, which would mean travelling for hours by car and I would need to stay with her.

I want to see her, comfort and help her and see her before she possibly passes - but I cant seem to find proper advice online with travelling for this reason, so far, during COVID. Is travelling to see her ok? WIBU to go and see and stay with her? Just really worried and not sure what to do.

Are you in England op? If so, Go (as long as you are not showing symptoms of covid-19)

Flowers at this difficult time.

If you aren't showing symptoms, do go if you can. I am very sorry to hear about your grandmother.

mag12 · 15/05/2020 12:32

If you aren’t experiencing symptoms then go 🌸

LouiseTrees · 15/05/2020 13:18

If you do get stopped, you are going to help a vulnerable relative and are moving in with her so that would be an allowed reason anywhere, not just England.

Scrumbleton · 15/05/2020 13:20

I’d go - bless you

hamstersarse · 15/05/2020 13:22

Don't think twice

You still have civil liberties despite what the despots would like to tell you

Toothsil · 15/05/2020 14:38

I would go. Thinking of you, hope you get to spend some time with her Flowers

schafernaker · 15/05/2020 14:47

Get on that motorway

Dowser · 15/05/2020 14:48

Yes go

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 15/05/2020 14:49

Go to her. I know this is a weird one, but take something that will help if you need the loo, such as pads and a bucket. Apparently not all toilets are open.

rossKemp · 15/05/2020 14:54

Go OP. Just go to her and have no regrets Flowers

SkySmiler · 15/05/2020 14:59

Go, safe journey Flowers

BogRollBOGOF · 15/05/2020 15:12

Go. You have nothing to lose by seeing her, but it may help avoid regrets.

Life is for living, not existing, and it is never infinite.
