To ask if an indestructible tin opener exists?

My tin opener has just given up the ghost halfway through opening a tin (a veggie Fray Bentos pie - I know IABU to eat such junk, but a) I've done a full day WFH plus several hours digging in the garden and b) I thought I was going to get a BFP after 6 months of TTC today but it was negative).

I need a serious heavy duty indestructible tin opener, which left-handed DH can also use, and which won't conk out halfway through opening tins.

Any recommendations? Or does such a thing not exist?

I've got a plug in one. It's brilliant and cost a tenner. I was sick of tin openers not working.

Oh its so odd you said it was a frey bentos pie that killed it I had the same with one as a student. Having too much time on my hands I emailed Frey Bentos in frustration and they sent me a tin opener. Its been almost a decade and I still have it, the fucking thing is literally indestructible.

I'm not promising they will still send you one if you send them an email but its honestly the best tin opener in the world!!

TinySleepThief that sounds amazing! I've lost several tin openers to those pies over the years, so I should really know better, but I may try emailing of only for an industrial strength one!

It really is. I'm hoping they still do similar and will also send you one. Like I said I never expected a response, let alone the tin opener, I was just being a grumpy opinionated student. However it's the studiest one I've ever had and has lasted longer than any I've ever owned.

I recently bought this looks ridiculous but works like a dream. No sharp edges and releases the vacuum on sealed jars as well. It only works on round tuns though, so no corned beef or similar shaped tins.

I don't believe one exists. It's a conspiracy. A circular saw is the only way forward.

It looks just like a normal tin opener but somehow its simply indestructible. It's honestly not much to look at and I've no idea why it works when all the others broke but somehow it does. The only notable thing about it is that it's green. I would genuinely be only half joking if I was to say I'd save it in event of a fire.

I bought a Brabantia one with a 10 year guarantee. Have definitely had it a good 12-15 years.

I bought one from Lakeland about three years ago which is really smooth when it opens tins.

I cant remember what make the old one was but it went on for about 18 years until one of my dc broke it.

Another vote for Brabantia. I got really fed up of buying cheapo tin openers and them breaking within a few months. I've had the Brabantia for years and it's still as good as new.

I emailed Baxter's (who own Fray Bentos) and they said;
"we recommend either the Brabantia Essential Line Can Opener or the Oxo Good Grips, which have proven to be the most effective in gaining access to our pies".

We've ordered an Oxo Good Grips. Fingers crossed it will grant us access to all sorts of canned goods
