Can I ask those who are walking what do you see on your everday walk?

I live by the sea. I'm lucky enough to have lovely walks on clifftops or through a forest. Local people are really appreciating this now. I always have as moved from a large town to here.

Are you walking more? Have you found any new places locally?

I'm a long distance walker but haven't been on any mega hikes yet. Feelna bit cautious to be honest.

We have plenty of people on drugs in our village. Mainly people who've been moved here from other places. The locals are incensed.

Loving the photos and descriptions.

Medieval garden walls, apple trees, withered tree trumps riddled with mushrooms and moss, wild flower meadows in the middle of a dense wood.

JaceLancs · 14/05/2020 15:19

Lots of wildlife and spring flowers

I live in suburban London and see quite a bit of wildlife, we have a lovely little river (more of a brook really) walk and there are two Herons living there and they are just beautiful. We have another bigger forest area a short drive away and I have seen muntjack deers and they are just the weirdest looking little things Smile

Also see rats, foxes, lots of cats, I hear woodpeckers and we have blue tits that have nested in our garden

MaccaPacca81 · 14/05/2020 15:25

I live on the edge of Epping Forest and walk across the plains a few times a week. I sometimes see longhorn cows grazing, the odd deer, lots of foxes...but I mostly see bags of dog sh!t hanging in trees.

Fluffybutter · 14/05/2020 15:33

We live surrounded by fields ,farms and woodland .
Also some old chalk pits .
We see lots of church ruins, muntjacs, pheasants, woodpeckers and lovely bluebells right now

1st and foremost i see greenery, sheep, mountains, slate. Im a 4 mile walk to the beach if using footpaths but i tend to to mountains. There are lots of routes where i am and can go for miles using them.

Bargainhuntbore · 14/05/2020 16:09

#snowdonia on instagram will give you an idea of what i see every day. Stunning💓

Birdsofafeather17 · 14/05/2020 16:32

Yes I have recently discovered some really old streets not too far from here. I never used to take that route as no need. It is like stepping back in time about 100 years ago into another era.

Scotsmaw · 14/05/2020 17:35

Ducks, swans and eejits every day.

incognitomum · 14/05/2020 17:50

Plenty of eejits round here. Luckily the majority are fine.

I live in the concrete jungle but run by the river where it's lovely and unspoiled. I saw a tree creeper yesterday and a white-throated dipper today Smile and parakeets every day.

incognitomum · 14/05/2020 19:51

Sounds great SheWranglesRugRats. I'm going to make an effort to do some bird spotting.

We live in a built up area so no nice walks unless we drive, we have done once or twice. My 9yo is loving the empty pub car park for bike riding and making us play deliveroo. Today are bringing some small saved empty pizza boxes for her to ‘deliver’ to us on her bike Grin she is very excited for today’s walk! Whatever keeps her happy Blush

I walk the same 3 mile walk twice daily, I live on the edge of a small town next to a large nature reserve, although my daily walk is a community woodland and field. I have enjoyed watching the trees budding and leaves coming out - the walk is quite shaded in areas now. The ground cover was low and now it is mid calf - in another few weeks parts of the walk I do "off path" will impassable. There is a lot of gorse bush and I love the Malibu smell. I see loads of cows and sheep and occasionally foxes and dear and loads of different birds. Kestrels and Buzzards are the common Raptor and there are loads of Corvids. There is evidence of moles and voles, polecats, mice.
The nature reserve is a loch and at the moment is not fun to walk around because of the flies and midges.
I have always had big dogs - so walking in my area is a daily occurrence and I always enjoy trying to find new places to walk - so this situation has hindered me from my continued search. I have been revisiting some local walks I haven't done for a while - eschewed in favour of better ones that are slightly further away. I am very lucky to have loads of amazing community walks, country parks, community parklands, cycle networks and coastal walks all within very short and easy reach. As soon as we are allowed to travel to walk I am going to have a ball and all of these within 10 miles of my home too.

incognitomum · 15/05/2020 13:26

Deliveroo Grin

We have gorse too and love the smell.

I live in a semi rural village surrounded by a large forest to the east, fields with cows and sheep to the west, and if you go south a couple miles the city centre. I tend to give the city centre a miss if I don't need anything and have been mainly in the woods, although there are some lovely paths through the fields too. It's been nice watching the calves grow bigger and bigger over the last couple months. In the woods we have seen lots of bluebells, loads of trees and greenery, and very few people. One of the paths has kind of an art installation alongside it so that's nice to look at too.
