To think it’s okay to drive and get a take away when you live in the middle of nowhere.

Live in the middle of nowhere. No take away in the village, no deliveries - it sucks.

There’s actually take away 5 minutes away but all shut still.

Getting a take away would mean driving at least 8-10 miles depending on what’s open? Got no decent food until I next door a shop (will most likely go shopping tomorrow or Friday, cba today).

I’ve been trying to stay in as much as possible but aibu to drive and get a bloody take away so I don’t have to cook tonight? Plus DS (has autism) really isn’t feeling the love right now. He’s moped around the house feeling sorry for himself for days. I think a treat will do him good!

Sucks when you live in the middle of nowhere!

Aibu to to get a take away (will order over the phone to collect). Also aibu to take the kids with me? Oh will be home from work and can sit in the car with them - they won’t get out.

Feel like DS needs a change of scenery. He hasn’t been out of the village we live in for 7 weeks!

Yes, I would

TinRoofRusty · 13/05/2020 13:39

Why the hell isn't it okay? We've been having them for weeks. Why on Earth are you imprisoning yourself?

Backtoreality1 · 13/05/2020 13:40

Not unreasonable at all....go for it! The drive out will be a nice change of scene, and if you are phoning in then minimising contact as well. Will mean a happy family all round - enjoy :)

QueenArseClangers · 13/05/2020 13:49

YABU to not let us know what food you’re ordering Smile Need some inspiration for tea!

GJAK9729 · 13/05/2020 13:55

It’s because I live in the middle of nowhere @TinRoofRusty. Not sure what the rules are driving miles just for take away 🤣 at least we’ve saved some money. Was having it weekly before! I’m unsure on what’s open though. Going to have to research around first!

God yes, make this your priority for tea tonight!! Enjoy.

RozziRaspberry · 13/05/2020 14:06

I did last Friday for my daughters 17th birthday, first time I had been out other than for food shopping. The takeaway is 20 minutes away from us and like you we don’t have any takeaways that deliver to our village.

I did wonder if it was allowed then thought stuff it, daughter has been brilliant and never complained about not being able to see her friends for the past 7 weeks so she deserved a treat.

GoodbyeToCare · 13/05/2020 14:07

We're in the same boat OP. We're 15 invites outside town and have driven in for a take away and plan on doing it again this weekend!

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 13/05/2020 14:08

As long as the takeaway isn't over the border in Wales or Scotland, you could drive 100 miles to pick one up if you wanted from today.

Biscuit0110 · 13/05/2020 14:08

Yes we have to. I am done with cooking every day for months on end

BacklashStarts · 13/05/2020 14:09

Yes, fine! Probably has always been fine. It’s dinner ergo essential!

turnthebiglightoff · 13/05/2020 14:11

You can drive as far as you want now, for "exercise". It's prob a few steps from the car to the chippy!

MillicentMargaretAmanda · 13/05/2020 14:16

It's food, therefore has always been allowable as far as I understand. Go for it, take the kids, if they are getting out the car make sure they social distance. Enjoy!

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 13/05/2020 15:46

@GJAK9729 - go for it!
(and I do not like takeaways, but understand sometimes it is the last resort / current treat option) Smile

Nosuchluck · 13/05/2020 15:49

Go for it! We’ve been having our dinner delivered every 4 nights from different restaurants since lockdown started.

EmbarrassedUser · 13/05/2020 16:16

So jealous @GJAK9729 Go for it😁

opticaldelusion · 13/05/2020 17:36

I think this is fine. I don't blame the OP for being cautious though. Soooo many threads on here basically saying if you ever leave the house again you're a murderer.

My personal favourites are 'Milk is NOT essential when you have taps' and 'How DARE a small child stop to look at a ladybird'

We live 15 minutes away from the takeaway we like and by passed others to collect not a jot do I care. Just go get your dinner 😃

trappedsincesundaymorn · 13/05/2020 18:15

Do it and class it as a "food shop". Grin

likeafishneedsabike · 13/05/2020 19:19

Have you had it yet? Hope it was good.

SharonasCorona · 13/05/2020 20:06

Where have all the covigilantes gone? 😂 They were a crazy bunch.
