I just had a call on my landline from a very long number and an automated voice said my MasterCard had been used to purchase a £99 Amazon Gift Card, press 1 to cancel the transaction.

I just put the phone down, fairly sure it was scammy but I couldn’t find anything about it on google.

Anyone else had this?

No, but it definitely sounds suspicious. You were right to put the phone straight down. Can you report the number to your phone provider for them to check?

Yes, it's a scam. Once you press 1, you are passed through to an "Amazon representative"

The fraudster then ask you for all your bank and personal details.

You did the right thing by hanging up.

It follows the scam script, they have machines calling every number they can buy off of companies and wait for someone to call back after a voicemail or get put through by automation and then proceed to say whatever they need to to get you to transfer money or details.

Yes it's a scam.

I suspect if you pressed one you would then be transferred to a live person who would then confirm your details with you in the process getting sufficient details for them to defraud you.

No credit card company will use a recorded message to alert you to a potential scam.

That’s what I figured. Thanks all.
